Mixed Berry Crepes

Without a doubt, crêpes are a marvelous invention. That's why they get their well-deserved recognition on International Crêpe Day. These red fruit crêpes combine two things I love: crêpes on one hand, and on the other, a perfect mix of strawberries, blueberries, currants and raspberries, with just the right amount of sugar to slightly mellow the pleasant tartness of the red fruits. A delight!

Wafer rolls filled with cream or custard (traditional filled neulas)

If there’s one thing that makes a holiday traditional in my house, it’s bringing to the table some filled wafer rolls or "neulas", as we always call them at home. We love them! They are never missing from the Christmas and Easter table, and we bring them out after dessert, alongside the turrones or tea cookies, at coffee time. They’re a perfect sweet bite to finish the meal, and they’re very easy to make at home!

Crêpe Day

Crêpe Day

French tradition says that on February 2nd crêpes should be prepared. They can be sweet or savory, but when making them the crêpes must be flipped with one hand while two coins are held in the other. Those two coins are wrapped in the crêpe and kept that way for an entire year, and the next year the coins are given to the poor.
