The Vitalis pot is, today, one of the most popular pots for steaming. Its success lies in that, besides being a perfect pot for healthy cooking, it offers a wide variety of uses and, because it is stainless steel, it is a pot that will last you a lifetime in the kitchen.

Why is it a versatile pot? Because it is ideal for steaming, without a doubt, thanks to its inner basket, its built-in thermometer and the silicone seal on the lid that seals the pot perfectly, making steam cooking very fast (because the steam truly stays inside). But when you don't want to steam, the Vitalis serves as a low pot or roasting pan: a dish you can put in the oven or in which you can cook all kinds of recipes on the stove. Also, it's a beautiful pot, with those rounded handles and WMF's high-quality Cromargan steel.

So you can make use of the Vitalis, some time ago we made a lemon steam cake. Today, we make another one of those standout recipes: steamed potatoes stuffed with bacon and parmesan. A perfect recipe as an appetizer, a first course, to accompany a main... And also a recipe you can adapt to your taste: replace the parmesan with another type of cheese or swap the bacon for tuna, serrano ham, cooked ham, roasted asparagus, peppers, ground meat... I think that once you see it it will become one of those go-to recipes in your repertoire. You'll love it!

patatas al vapor rellenas

Ingredients (for 4 people)

  • 8 small thin-skinned potatoes
  • 200 g bacon
  • 100 g parmesan
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. Wash the potatoes well, finely chop the bacon, grate the cheese and set everything aside in separate containers.
  2. Pour 1.5 liters of water into the Vitalis pot by WMF, place the steam cooking accessory and put the washed potatoes on it. Cover the pot and set over high heat until the thermometer needle reaches 95ºC. Cook covered over medium heat for 20 min.
  3. Check that the potatoes are cooked using a skewer to test doneness. They will be done when the skewer goes in without difficulty. If not, return them to the pot, cover and continue cooking for a few more minutes.
  4. Remove the potatoes and cut them in half lengthwise. Scoop out the interior with a spoon (since the potatoes are small, a scoop may help you), leaving a kind of boat with thick walls.
  5. In a bowl, mix the potato flesh with the bacon and half the cheese, adjust the salt and fill the potatoes with the mixture.
  6. Distribute the remaining cheese over the potatoes and place them back on the perforated tray of the Vitalis WMF.
  7. Again, pour 1 liter of water into the Vitalis WMF pot, cover it and set over high heat until it begins to boil. Then insert the loaded tray and put the lid on. Cook for 5 minutes, until the cheese melts.
  8. If you wish, you can place the potatoes under the broiler in the oven to brown them.
