If you're looking for an iron skillet suitable for both the stove and the oven, with a handle that heats less than the traditional skillet, here it is: the Mineral B iron skillet with stainless steel handle with thermal brake. It's a fantastic, lifetime skillet, more elegant than the traditional one and oven-safe!
You've been waiting for this. As French as Jules Verne, the Mineral B skillets by De Buyer are exactly what you need to cook healthily at home.
- Handcrafted in iron.
- Made without chemicals or strange coatings nor heavy metals,
- Treated with a natural beeswax coating that protects the skillet from factory to your home.
- With use, they develop a patina that makes them naturally non-stick.
- Versatile, it's ideal for browning or roasting meats as well as sautéing vegetables or making fried eggs.
- Being oven-safe, you can make all kinds of wonders in it! From covering it with a shortcrust pastry base to bake a tart in the oven to roasting vegetables and meats in the oven.
- Suitable for all heat sources, including induction.
- Can be placed in the oven (can go in the oven at 200 ºC for ten minutes).
It's the traditional skillet, the grandmother's iron skillet, allowing you to rediscover those authentic, delicious flavors. It's not a lightweight skillet, but it's worth its weight in gold, and it will last you a lifetime at home!
Why we love the Mineral B iron skillet with stainless steel handle
- The mineral iron distributes heat so well across the entire skillet surface that any food is perfectly cooked and evenly browned.
- And this Mineral B skillet with a stainless steel handle also prevents the handle from getting too hot, so you won't burn yourself.
- It's oven-safe, not just for heating, but you can cook in it normally in the oven.
Important things to know about the Mineral B iron skillets
- De Buyer skillets are made in France, and the only ones with a certificate of iron purity over 99%. The best!
- They're iron skillets, so they can rust. How to avoid it? Avoid prolonged contact with water, don't let them air-dry: simply dry them with a cloth after washing. If you like, you can leave them on low heat for a few minutes to ensure all moisture evaporates while finishing your cooking (this is a super easy and useful trick).
- If you're leaving them unused for many days, you can apply some oil and spread it over the surface with a paper towel, but it's by no means necessary.
- Before the first use, it's very useful to season them. This seasoning makes them more naturally non-stick. Seasoning is super easy to do. Watch the video among the photos to know how to do it.
- You have a skillet for life! You can scrub it with a soft sponge or wash it with a scouring pad if needed to remove food, and nothing will happen to the skillet! (there's no non-stick coating that you can damage). They may darken, evenly or in spots. Don't worry; the darker they get, the better they'll perform.
- If rust spots appear, wipe with paper towel and oil, and watch them disappear magically. If the rusted area is larger, use the scouring pad without fear. Nothing will happen to it; it's an all-iron skillet: underneath the iron layer, there's more iron.
- If you had to scrub with a scouring pad or just feel like it, you can season it again, but it's not necessary to do so regularly.
