The Vitalis pot is, today, one of the most popular pots for steam cooking. Its success lies in the fact that, apart from being a perfect pot for healthy cooking, it offers you a wide variety of uses and, in addition, being made of stainless steel, it is a pot that will last a lifetime in the kitchen.

Why is it a versatile pot? Because it is ideal for steam cooking, without a doubt! Thanks to its inner basket, its integrated thermometer and the silicone rubber lid that seals the pot perfectly, making steam cooking very fast (because the steam certainly stays inside). But when you don't want to steam, you have the Vitalis as a low pot or roasting pan: a dish that you can put in the oven or in which you can cook all kinds of recipes on the stove. In addition, it is a beautiful pot, with those rounded handles and the high-quality Cromargan steel from WMF.

So that you can put the Vitalis to good use, a while ago we made a lemon steam cake . Today, we're making another of those great recipes: steamed potatoes stuffed with bacon and parmesan. A perfect recipe as an appetizer, as a first course, to accompany a second course... And also a recipe that you can adapt to your taste: replace the parmesan with another type of cheese or replace the bacon with tuna, serrano ham, sweet ham, roasted asparagus, peppers, minced meat... I think that if you see it, it will become one of those recipes in your wardrobe. You'll love it!

steamed stuffed potatoes

Ingredients (for 4 people)

  • 8 small thin-skinned potatoes
  • 200 g of bacon
  • 100 g of parmesan
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. Wash the potatoes well, finely chop the bacon, grate the cheese and set everything aside in separate containers.
  2. Pour 1.5 litres of water into the WMF Vitalis pot , place the steamer insert and the washed potatoes on top. Cover the pot and cook over high heat until the thermometer reaches 95°C. Cook covered over medium heat for 20 min.
  3. Check that the potatoes are cooked using a toothpick to check the doneness. They will be ready when they go in without difficulty. If not, put them back in the pot, cover them and continue cooking for a few more minutes.
  4. Remove the potatoes and cut them in half lengthwise. Using a spoon, scoop out the insides (since the potatoes are small, a moulding spoon may help), leaving a sort of boat-like shell with thick walls.
  5. In a bowl , mix the potato pulp with the bacon and half of the cheese, adjust the salt and fill the potatoes with the mixture.
  6. Spread the remaining cheese over the potatoes and place them back onto the perforated tray of the WMF Vitalis .
  7. Pour 1 litre of water into the WMF Vitalis pot again, cover and bring to the boil over high heat. Then insert the loaded baking tray and put the lid on. Cook for 5 minutes until the cheese has melted.
  8. If you wish, you can put the potatoes under the grill in the oven to brown them.
