Joy takes over me when December arrives. Christmas is approaching, a time that I adore: thinking about family meals, those meals that sometimes end up as dinners, and also seeing the excitement of the children when they wake up and run to look next to the tree.
This euphoria I experience is reflected in everything I do, and I can't stop thinking about what gifts will be the most appropriate for each of my loved ones... because I hadn't said it, but I love giving gifts! I love thinking of something that will be useful, or that will surprise, or that will be beautiful... Choosing the ideal gift for each person and each moment. And I must admit it too... It makes me happy to see that I've made the right choice!
I think we can all get the gift right. The most important thing is to think about what the person who is going to receive it will like. Once you have a clear profile, the only thing left is ideas. And I think I can help with that, so today I want to talk about products from the store that can be ideal for giving as a gift.
Gift ideas
I'll start with ideas for those who want to give a treat. What could be a treat? Certainly something that you wouldn't buy for yourself, but I would recommend opting for pieces that you get a lot of use out of once you have them. I must encourage you to think about giving a fondue set (from the famous Savoyarde by Emile Henry, to the cast iron one by Le Creuset ). Giving a crepe maker is another great idea, since many times you don't have one, and you end up getting a lot of use out of it. Or I encourage you to think about my little gem: a Chemex, a coffee maker that gives you clear, pure coffee like no other! (apart from the fact that it's a unique piece of art).
Treat yourself to a treat: Emile Henry Savoyard fondue , Le Creuset cast iron crepe maker and Chemex coffee maker
If you are thinking of giving a gift to someone who likes baking, I would choose to give a nice mould , a tarte tatin mould or cookie stamps, which come presented in a nice box. If you have a large budget, consider giving a Kitchen Aid ! It is every baker's dream.
For baking lovers: Le Creuset ceramic mould , cookie stamps and Kitchen Aid food processor
Then there are gifts for people who spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and who will appreciate utensils that can become an ally. The Spirelli 2.0 is undoubtedly a successful gift among cooks; as is a mandolin (it is difficult to make the step of buying one, but if you cook large quantities often, you will certainly get a lot of use out of it).
In this section, a good knife cannot be missing: many times we do not pay attention to it, when in fact it is the utensil that is most used in the kitchen. Having a good knife is basic, and it is also a great gift: the vast majority come presented in a nice box, which makes them an ideal gift. There are many types and categories of knives, but that is why you might be interested in seeing the posts in which I talked about Kitchen Knives , or you can directly see the Knives section (if you want to go quickly for something really different, go see the Japanese ones from Kai ).
For cooks: Spirelli 2.0 , Kobra mandolin and Kai Japanese knives
Now let's think about giving kitchen utensils that help us cook on a daily basis. The first, without a doubt, is an iron cocotte , the treat of every lover of chup-chup, slow cooking and traditional flavours. Because of its price, it is sometimes difficult to buy one, but having one becomes a dream come true. With them, not only do you get better flavours thanks to their cooking properties, but you cook happier by being able to use it, and it is an investment for life, since iron cocottes can easily be passed on to our children.
The second utensil that I think is very suitable to give as a gift is a wok : we all have pans, pots and grills, but a wok is an item that is often left for later, and that is a shame. Cooking vegetables, meat and fish in a wok is a delight, quick and tasty cooking that will surely make us use it more than we might think at first.
I continue with my list of gift ideas, and I think that many of us will agree that giving a pot may not be the most attractive gift for many people… I think it would only be recommended for those people who have a really old or damaged cookware set. But giving a pressure cooker … That's another thing! Many would like to have one, it saves time and the properties and flavour of the food, but they are expensive, so taking advantage of the excuse of gifts may be the ideal time to get one. In addition, we now have several with very important offers, which I think makes them a very good opportunity.
For lovers of chup-chup: Le Creuset cast iron cocotte , Le Creuset wok and WMF pressure cooker
Finally, I can name a few more products that are also often chosen as gifts. It is up to you to see if they fit the person you have to surprise:
- A teapot is a very common gift. There are some really beautiful ones, you can see them here . You can also accompany it with some of the best teas in the world, the teas from the Kusmi Tea brand that we have in the Pantry section, and it will end up being a unique gift.
- A tagine , a utensil designed for lovers of slow cooking, who will enjoy its special cooking properties: it produces juicier food as the same steam from cooking falls back onto the food.
- Some beautiful and delicious mini-cocottes : choose all the same color, or each one a different color, and it will be a delicious gift.
- The Le Creuset mug set , beautifully presented.
- The jar of jam , or the one of olives , some authentic sweets.
- The thermal bread box , another treat that only those who try it know how to truly appreciate what it is like to enjoy warm bread, toast and croissants on the table for a long time! Besides, the bread box is pretty.
Le Creuset teapot , Le Creuset tagine , ceramic mini-cocottes , Le Creuset coffee cups , jam jar and Mastrad thermal bread box
- A classic: a cookbook ! There are books that are wonderful, some are timeless, others are authentic novelties that are worth discovering. I invite you to take a look at them.
- If you are just looking for a little something, the Walkers biscuit bus , the pretty Jules Destrooper boxes , the Quarteto set of special jams, the Kusmi Tea sets or a delicious panettone can be very good options.
Gifts for him
While the above options are still valid for boys who are attracted to the world of cooking, I would like to take the liberty of talking about gifts that may be ideal for them. I think there are several products that they may really like, and I cannot miss this opportunity to say so. First, an Opinel mushroom knife . It is so ideal! I think it is an exquisite gift for those who enjoy going to the forest in autumn or who have that adventurous spirit.
Then there are the barbecues . We have both traditional charcoal and gas ones, all of them great! You just have to decide which one suits you best.
And the other recurring and very practical gift is corkscrews and chiller sleeves . As for corkscrews, Screwpull-Le Creuset is the best in the world (and that's not a saying), and any of the brands you choose has been designed for excellent cork extraction. Perhaps, as a gift, it's worth considering those that include a vacuum pump, to extend the life of the wine; but whether you include it or not, a corkscrew is a very good option.

A while ago I made a post talking about possible gifts for children. If you are looking for one, I invite you to check it out.
