Far from making only homemade yogurt, in the yogurt maker you can prepare countless desserts (Why else would they call it Multidelicias Yogurt Maker?), from custards and creams to puddings, flans, fresh cheese or even sponge cakes. After all, a electric yogurt maker it is a steam-cooking appliance (you add water to its base before turning it on, which will evaporate and carry out the steaming), with the great benefits that controls temperatures and times.
You also make them in glass cups, which are very convenient and attractive both for preparing the desserts and for serving them (and they're very easy to clean, since they're dishwasher-safe). All of it in record time!
What is the yogurt maker for?
You may be wondering what you can make in the yogurt maker. The yogurt maker is a device that provides heat and operates with steam. You can make up to 6 yogurts, desserts, or cheeses at the same time. It has a top lid that closes the yogurt maker, holding the jars and retaining the steam and heat that will cook them.
Being a device that applies heat, always in a controlled manner, It is ideal for all kinds of recipes: In the yogurt maker you can make any recipes you can present in jars, which only call for a base or batter that needs heat or steaming to cook.
- You can make yogurts: the heat (kept low and controlled in this case, so as not to harm them) will help the bacteria ferment, and you’ll get homemade yogurts. You can make them plain, flavored, add jam or fruit at the bottom, with cookies... You can make countless homemade yogurts, controlling the ingredients and amounts you use, playing with textures and flavors and ending up with a wide variety of desserts.
- Other dairy products: from curd to homemade Pétit Suisse or cream cheese, heat will "set" the milk, yielding delicious dairy desserts.
- Custards and creams: prepare the base recipe for homemade custard, Crema Catalana, crème brûlée, or a delicious chocolate cream (What addictive desserts!). Making those bases is easy, and once you put it in the yogurt maker, it will cook it for you to get delicious desserts in about 30 minutes (plus time to chill in the fridge).
- Flans: it’s one of the most common uses for a yogurt maker, because how often do we have flan at home, and how easy is it to make? You mix the ingredients (nothing as easy and delicious as eggs, milk, and sugar), and the yogurt maker cooks them for you in 45 minutes, with no need for a water bath or to turn on the oven. From traditional egg flan to coconut, cinnamon, chocolate, condensed milk... You’ll be making flan by the ton!
- Puddings: exactly like flan, but by adding some leftover homemade pastry dough, you'll make delicious homemade puddings in no time.
- Doughs and cakes: Steam your cakes and serve them in individual portions! Nothing is as easy and tidy as pouring the batter from your cake recipes into the cups and pressing a button—you'll have your individual cakes ready in under an hour, without turning on the oven! From classic yogurt cake to mini lemon, orange, chocolate, pumpkin, carrot, and marble cakes...
- Other desserts: there are many more recipes you can make in the yogurt maker: rice pudding, blondies, tocino de cielo...
- Savory recipes: Now that it's trendy to carry food in a jar, or to serve individual appetizers, you can make all kinds of frittatas in the yogurt maker (it's just about steam-cooking the egg). There are other recipes you can consider too, like cornbread (corn bread) filled with your favorite ingredients. Think of recipes that require heat or steaming, and you'll be on the right track.
Yogurt Maker Recipes
There are two things I encourage you to check to get recipes for the Multidelices Yogurt Maker:
- The yogurt maker cookbook, which you can see here: in it you will find a wide variety of recipes to start getting the most out of your new appliance.
- All the yogurt maker recipes from our blog, from flans and creams in a yogurt maker to puddings, you'll see them here.

How to make yogurt with the yogurt maker
Yogurt has a lot of benefits for our health, and making yogurt at home has even more: you control the ingredients and quantities you use, keeping it super natural; it’s super quick and it’s also fun (for adults and kids, who often help me with it).
To make yogurt you only need two ingredients: milk and bacteria. The bacteria will ferment the milk, and you'll get yogurt.
Where do you get the bacteria for your first yogurts? You don’t need to buy bacteria! All you need for your first homemade yogurts is a yogurt—mix a quality whole plain yogurt with milk, and divide the mixture among the yogurt maker’s jars. Add water to the base of the yogurt maker and turn it on; in a few hours you’ll have homemade yogurt.
Although it’s true that the first yogurts you make each include a small amount of store-bought yogurt, the amount in each one is very small (it gets divided into 6 jars), and after those first yogurts you can use your own to make more. Even so, it’s a good idea to buy a high-quality yogurt for your first batches, made from milk and with ample, high-quality starter cultures, so you get thick yogurts rich in live cultures.
Make flavored yogurts: add jam at the bottom of the yogurt if you like its flavor and sweetness; you can sweeten them with natural sweeteners in the mixture; you can add fresh fruit, candied fruit, dried fruit, flavorings... Make your yogurts with your favorite combinations!
Multidelices yogurt maker programs
The yogurt maker comes with 6 jars and 6 removable racks/strainers for making fresh cheese, and features several preset programs, which are:
- Program to make yogurts
- Program to prepare fresh cheese
- Program for everyday desserts: with it you will make all kinds of custards, creams, flans, puddings... Preset to 45 minutes
- Program express: only the new version of the Multidelices Yogurt Maker (the one we have in the store) includes this express program. It's an advanced feature to ferment yogurt in 4 hours, instead of the usual 8 with this type of machine.
Despite coming with those programs, it also you can manually adjust times and temperatures: if you’ve overfilled the jars, or if you’ve made an extremely moist cake batter and will need a bit more temperature or time... You can press the program to use and, after that, add whatever minutes you want or raise or lower the temperature to your liking.
Also remember that the yogurt maker is an electrical appliance optimized for low energy consumption. That is important, especially for the longer programs, for which it is useful to know that they actually require little energy, since you only need a very low temperature to make yogurt (therefore, little energy for heating, just enough to maintain it).

Things you should know about the yogurt maker
- Besides the 6 jars that come with the yogurt maker, you may be interested in getting 6 additional jars. This is useful when you want to make desserts non-stop, if you want to make a variety of desserts without having to finish all the yogurts or desserts you already have ready in the fridge, or if you want to make a larger batch of the recipe once you get started, so you can run two batches, one after the other, of that prepared mixture. If you want to purchase additional jars you'll find them here.
- The glasses are made of glass, so your mixes won't absorb any odors, and they are 100% dishwasher safe.
- There is an accessory that people really like, and it is the 1 L rectangular container. With it, you can do exactly the same as with the jars, but in XL size and with only one container to clean. Are you into making XL yogurts and flans, or do you want to make a delicious cake ready to serve?
- You can also make drinkable yogurt. For this you will need the specific jars for it, the jars for liquid yogurt of the Multidelices.

Additional set of glasses, 1L container for the Multidelices and small cups for liquid yogurt
Making yogurt at home is enjoyable, easy, and pleasant, but discovering how easy, clean, and convenient it is to make desserts like custards, creams, and flans is truly a real joy. The Multidelices yogurt maker the truth is that it’s very versatile and gives you a multitude of options: I hope that with this article I’ve managed to convey that, in fact, you can make endless recipes with it in the most convenient way possible (and without getting overheated, since it saves you from turning on the oven).
