Easy and very quick to make, roasted pineapple with cinnamon becomes a Sunday dessert due to its exoticism and color, but I assure you that it is a recipe to consider making any day of the week, for dessert or for breakfast in the morning.

You can make the pineapple on the grill or on the barbecue, and I assure you that you will succeed. Of course, always accompany it with a little yogurt or ice cream! It's the perfect touch to round off the delivery.


  • fresh pineapple
  • Sugar (white, brown or both)
  • Cinnamon

To accompany (optional, to choose):

  • Sweetened plain yogurt or coconut yogurt
  • Cream, vanilla or coconut ice cream


  1. Cut the pineapple into 1 cm slices, and decide if you cut them in half (making half moons), or prefer to serve them whole slices.
  2. Sprinkle the sugar on top of each slice, using your fingers but somewhat generously (you can use white or brown sugar, a mixture of both or even use panela if you want to add more nuances to the pineapple).
  3. Now sprinkle cinnamon, in the same way as with the sugar, all over the slice and generously.
  4. Heat a cast iron grill . When it is hot, arrange the pineapple cuts in it, on the side that you had the sugar and cinnamon.
  5. While that side is being made, take the opportunity to sprinkle that second side with sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Wait for the first side to be golden, and when it is, turn the cuts, and grill the pineapple on the other side. Remove to a tray or directly onto plates when done.
  7. Serve when it is still warm or warm, with yogurt or ice cream. You can serve the pineapple on a plate and the yogurt in a separate bowl, pour the yogurt on top of the pineapple, or cut the pineapple into small pieces (diced) and serve the roasted pineapple in a yogurt bowl.

  • It is important that it be made of iron, to get a high temperature and really roast the pineapple.
  • The pineapple is arranged on the grill as it is, without applying oil or butter (although it can be done with a little butter too, if you prefer, even if it is not necessary ... but do not use oil).
  • It is an ideal recipe to also make on the barbecue . Either because you enjoy it on the terrace in winter or because you want a light recipe during the summer, you will see how delicious roasted pineapple is on the barbecue!
  • The sugar will help caramelize and brown the pineapple more easily, but you can leave it out if you prefer to reduce it in your diet.
  • You will know the pineapple is done when it turns a brown or golden color. If the grill is hot, it's done quickly, so don't be away from it too long.
