Few snacks are as quick and elegant as these chocolate-covered hazelnuts, or hazelnut bites, as we call them at home.

Nuts pair extraordinarily well with the flavor of cocoa, and these chocolate hazelnuts, whether you make them loose or turn them into chocolate hazelnut rocks, are a perfect companion for after-dinner coffee, a perfect nibble to finish a meal, or an exquisite touch if you place them beside your morning coffee cup - they fill you with energy... and with joy!

Making these hazelnut bites takes only 10 minutes (the time to melt the chocolate, mix the hazelnuts and place them on a tray), and you'll look great when you bring them to the table.

Remember that it's also a lovely gift when put in a glass jar (the jars with engraving by Luigi Bormioli are perfect for that).

Ingredients

  • 150 gr dark chocolate*
  • 200 gr hazelnuts, toasted and peeled
  • To decorate: cocoa powder or salt flakes.

*You can use dark chocolate ideally, but if it's for the little ones at home you can use melting milk chocolate. In any case, make it quality chocolate; it will be the star of this quick and handy recipe.

Preparation

  1. Melt 150 gr of dark chocolate in a bain-marie (the bowl for bain-marie or the De Buyer saucepan specifically for that will help you achieve perfectly melted chocolate).
  2. When melted, pour 200 gr of toasted peeled hazelnuts into it, and mix with a spatula until the hazelnuts are completely covered.
  3. Line a tray with baking paper, and spread the hazelnuts on it. Let cool until the chocolate hardens (you can place it in the never 30 minutes, but no longer to avoid the chocolate losing its beautiful and intense brown color).
  4. When serving, dust with cocoa on top, or coarse salt if you want to enhance the chocolate flavor and create contrast. You'll touch the sky!

TIP! You can spread the hazelnuts on the tray so they don't touch each other to have chocolate hazelnuts to snack on one by one, or you can make little piles of hazelnuts (you can use two spoons to help), thus creating chocolate rocks so each guest can take a little pile. ¡Idelaes para acompañar el café!
