I am in love with the combination of the sweetness and softness of the pear with the flavour, intensity and saltiness of the gorgonzola cheese. It is a combination that I often have as an appetizer or snack to satisfy my hunger: sliced pear with pieces of gorgonzola cheese. Just like that, delicious!
But you can give that combination a nicer, rounder finish if you wrap it in Serrano ham and melt it in the oven. Wonderful!
Today's recipe is a solution for dinner, a starter or the perfect accompaniment to grilled or baked fish. I hope you are encouraged to try it, it is a combination that, although it may surprise you at first, I assure you that it is a real delicacy.
Ingredients
- 2 medium pears
- 100 g gorgonzola
- 2 slices of Serrano ham
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the top off the pears, creating a "cap" about 2 cm below the stem.
- Hollow out the pears with the Lurch fruit and vegetable corer and fill each one with 50 g Gorgonzola.
- Wrap a slice of Serrano ham around each pear and secure with a toothpick or wooden skewer.
- To finish, replace the "lids" on the pears, place them in an oven-safe dish ( Nordic Ware Naturals trays work great for these occasions) and bake for 20 minutes at 180ºC.
- Serve on a plate, accompanied by some nuts or dried fruit if you eat it alone, or serve it as an accompaniment to grilled fish. Enjoy!
