You can make homemade coconut milk in the easiest way. You simply have to have quality coconut (whole or grated) and mix it with water. It's that easy, although with some tips that I'm going to tell you about. I also bring you some ideas to enjoy it.

To make coconut milk you can use natural coconut or grated coconut , now I will tell you how to do it with each class, but it will be important to have a good blender for a good smoothie and also to filter it well. But I'm talking about this in preparation.

Recipe to make coconut milk

1) How to make coconut milk with fresh coconut

  • 1 coconut

  1. Make a cut in the coconut, where it has the holes, and remove the cover. Pour the interior liquid into the blender . Separate the pulp from the coconut and also put it in the blender.
  2. Beat the coconut water with the pulp, at high speed (it will help if the mixer has a Pulse function for an extra shake). You will see that a kind of dense paste is formed, due to the mixture of the water, the crushed pulp and the coconut oil that has been released.
  3. Remove from the glass blender and pass it through a cotton mesh , filtering and squeezing well and recovering the liquid that you extract in a container. You already have your coconut milk.

That coconut milk is the most dense , intense. You can use it now in your preparations, or reserve it in the fridge for a maximum of two to three days.

If you are interested, you can also reduce it with mineral water , obtaining a larger quantity. Some people mix it with other milk (cow's, sheep's...).

2) How to make coconut milk with shredded coconut

You can make coconut milk saving you the work of emptying the coconut. And it will be a quality coconut milk, but it is important to use organic grated coconut , without added sugars and without roasting.

  • 1 cup shredded organic coconut
  • 1 liter of mineral water

  1. Leave in grated coconut in a bowl, hydrating for an hour with mineral water.
  2. Introduce the grated coconut together with the hydration water in the blender , and beat for 50 seconds.
  3. Remove the mixture from the mixer, passing it through the cotton mesh to filter it and collecting the liquid in a clean container. Ready to enjoy!
  • Store in the fridge in an airtight container, two to three days maximum.
  • You can add a little more water if you're interested.

How to use coconut milk

  • Once your coconut milk is ready, you can enjoy it as it is (fresh, it is very refreshing), or you can use it to make pastries (cakes, coconut flans...), to make yogurt, to prepare fruit smoothies or with nuts (with cashews, hazelnuts, with sesame...).

If you decide to use it to drink at the moment and enjoy it naturally, I recommend:

  • Flavor it with cinnamon or cocoa , the truth is that they are aromas that go very well, along with a few drops of vanilla extract .
  • Use the Juice Expert to make strawberry (or strawberry and banana) coulis, which then mixed with the coconut milk makes a delicious strawberry and coconut smoothie .
