You can make homemade coconut milk in the easiest way. You just need to have quality coconut (whole or grated) and mix it with water. It's that easy, although with some tips that I'm going to tell you. I also bring you some ideas for enjoying it.

To make coconut milk you can use natural coconut or grated coconut . I will now show you how to do it with each class, but it will be important to have a good blender for a good shake and also to do a good filtering. But I will talk about this in the preparation.

Recipe for making coconut milk

1) How to make coconut milk with fresh coconut

Ingredients

  • 1 coconut

Preparation

  1. Make a cut in the coconut where the holes are and remove the lid. Pour the liquid inside into the blender . Separate the coconut pulp and put it into the blender as well.
  2. Blend the coconut water with the pulp at high speed (it will help if your blender has a Pulse function for extra smoothness). You will see that a kind of thick paste is formed, due to the mixture of water, crushed pulp and the coconut oil that has been released.
  3. Remove from the blender and strain through a cotton mesh , filtering and squeezing well and collecting the liquid you extract in a container. You now have your coconut milk.

This coconut milk is very dense and intense. You can use it now in your preparations, or store it in the refrigerator for a maximum of two to three days.

If you are interested, you can also dilute it with mineral water , obtaining a larger quantity. Some people mix it with other milks (cow's, sheep's...).

2) How to make coconut milk with grated coconut

You can make coconut milk, saving yourself the work of emptying the coconut. And it will be a quality coconut milk, but it is important to use organic, unsweetened, untoasted shredded coconut .

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic shredded coconut
  • 1 liter of mineral water

Preparation

  1. Leave the grated coconut in a bowl, hydrating it for an hour with mineral water.
  2. Add the grated coconut and the hydration water to the blender and blend for 50 seconds.
  3. Remove the mixture from the blender, strain it through a cotton mesh and collect the liquid in a clean container. Ready to enjoy!
  • Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for two to three days maximum.
  • You can add a little more water if you like.

How to use coconut milk

  • Once your coconut milk is ready, you can enjoy it as is (chilled, it is very refreshing), or you can use it to make pastries (sponges, coconut flans...), to make yogurt, to prepare smoothies with fruit or nuts (with cashews, hazelnuts, sesame...).

If you decide to use it to drink it right away and enjoy it naturally, I recommend:

  • Flavor it with cinnamon or cocoa , the truth is that these are aromas that go very well with it, along with a few drops of vanilla extract .
  • Use the Juice Expert to make strawberry coulis (or strawberry and banana coulis), which is then mixed with coconut milk to make a delicious strawberry and coconut smoothie .
