Few snacks are as quick and elegant as these chocolate-covered hazelnuts, or hazelnut bites, as we call them at home.
Nuts combine extraordinarily well with the flavour of cocoa, and these chocolate hazelnuts, whether you make them loose or turn them into chocolate hazelnut rocks, are a perfect accompaniment to coffee after dinner, a perfect snack to finish off a meal, or an exquisite detail if you have them next to your morning cup of coffee - they fill you with energy... and joy!
These hazelnut bites only take 10 minutes to prepare (the time it takes to melt the chocolate, mix the hazelnuts and put them on a tray), and they look delicious when you bring them to the table.
Remember that it is also a lovely gift to give in a glass jar ( Luigi Bormioli's engraved jars are perfect for this).
Ingredients
- 150 gr dark chocolate*
- 200 gr hazelnuts, toasted and peeled
- To decorate: cocoa powder or salt flakes.
*You can use dark chocolate ideally, but if it's for the little ones in the house you can use melting milk chocolate. In any case, it must be quality chocolate, which will be the key to this quick and easy recipe.
Preparation
- Melt 150 g of dark chocolate in a bain-marie (the bain-marie bowl or the De Buyer saucepan will help you get perfect melted chocolate).
- Once melted, pour 200g of peeled toasted hazelnuts into it and mix with a spatula until the hazelnuts are completely covered.
- Line a baking tray with baking paper and spread the hazelnuts on it. Leave to cool until the chocolate hardens (you can put it in the fridge for 30 minutes, but no more to prevent the chocolate from losing its beautiful, intense brown colour).
- When serving, sprinkle cocoa on top, or coarse salt if you want to enhance the chocolate flavour and create contrast. You'll be in heaven!
TIP! You can spread the hazelnuts on the tray, so that they don't touch each other, so that you have chocolate hazelnuts to snack on one by one, or you can make little piles of hazelnuts (you can use two spoons to do this), to make chocolate rocks so that each diner can take a little pile. Ideal to accompany coffee!
