I hadn't paid much attention to tofu, I found it bland. Until I learned how to really flavor it! This recipe for Silken Tofu with Spicy Soy Sauce is one of the easiest to make. prepare , adding intensity and spiciness to the tofu in a way that I highly recommend you try.

The sauce we make is a Soy, Chili and Ginger Sauce is delicious . On the other hand, we will eat the tofu raw, and that is why we recommend finding a good soft, delicate, silky tofu.

If you're making this recipe with regular firm tofu, I recommend cutting it into bite-sized cubes. If you'd rather stir-fry it in a wok first, you can do that too... and you've got two different recipes to turn to in your everyday life.

Tofu with soy sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 block silken tofu or 1 block firm tofu*
  • 2-3 tbsp soy sauce
  • Chopped chives (to taste, 1 or 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 small fresh chili, chopped (more if you like it really spicy)
  • 1-2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced or grated (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp toasted sesame seeds

*If you can find it, I recommend silken and soft tofu, but you will see the recipe for both types of tofu (firm tofu is also delicious).

Preparation

  1. Place the silken tofu carefully on a plate so that it doesn't break (if using firm tofu, see below for preparation).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, ginger, chiles, garlic (if using), rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  3. Pour the sauce you have prepared over the silken tofu.
  4. Sprinkle with chopped chives and toasted sesame seeds.
  5. Serve cold and enjoy.

Tofu with soy and ginger

Grades:

  • In addition to chives, or instead of them, you can also add a little chopped leek, or as I like it best, with a little chopped red onion.

If using firm tofu:

If you're using firm tofu, it's best to prepare the tofu yourself: Drain the firm tofu well and pat it dry with kitchen paper (you can also press it lightly to remove excess water). Then, cut it into slices or large cubes, whichever you prefer, but this is the best way to enjoy the recipe. Arrange the cubes in a bowl or plate, and pour the sauce over them. You can garnish with a little chives.
