If you're looking for a quick, healthy recipe for any occasion, this recipe for roasted Brussels sprouts with ham is for you! You can prepare it in 1 minute and let the oven heat up for only 20, so it's a quick and very successful recipe.
For roasted cabbage you only need the basic ingredients plus oil, salt and pepper, and an oven-safe tray. Personally, I like to use the oven as much as I can, so as soon as I turn it on to bake a cake or roast some fish or meat, I add a Nordic Ware Naturals tray filled with vegetables or, as in this case, Brussels sprouts to take advantage of the baking.
When is this recipe ideal?
- You can serve roasted Brussels sprouts as an appetizer : you can spear a few pieces of ham and a Brussels sprout with a toothpick, and so on with all of them to serve a small plate full of skewers of cabbage with ham; or you can also arrange some plates or bowls on the table so that everyone can serve themselves as much as they want.
- Serve them as a first course , it is a healthy, light and complete recipe, a perfect first course for every day.
- As an accompaniment to a second course : you can serve any grilled or oven-roasted meat or fish with these Brussels sprouts with ham. You will see that they go together perfectly (in addition, apart from flavour, they add colour to the dish, making them highly desirable).
Recipe variations
- It is just as common to make Brussels sprouts with ham as with bacon , or you can also use a mixture of both.
- For those who want to make it more delicious and seek a contrast with the sweetness, you can sprinkle brown sugar or honey on top to caramelize the dish.
- For those who want to emphasize the healthy lifestyle, add spring onions to the tray, which are always delicious when roasted, or accompany it with chopped carrots , with salt, pepper and oil and in just a few minutes they will be delicious.
- If you like nuts, you can add some sliced or chopped almonds, they will provide that crunch that so many people like.
Revol porcelain plates (oven safe)
Ingredients
- Brussels sprouts
- Ham or bacon
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Black pepper or pepper mix
Preparation
- Place the Brussels sprouts in the Nordic Ware Naturals Tray or an oven-safe baking sheet.
- Spread the ham, bacon or a mixture of both over the sprouts.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper on top.
- Add a good splash of oil.
- Mix everything together, spread evenly over the tray and place in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes at 200 ºC (you will see that the ham loses its deep red colour and the cabbage has softened). Then switch to grill (if you have air conditioning, all the better, use it for faster roasting), and leave on the grill for 10 more minutes or until you see the cabbages roasting (they roast quickly, keep an eye on them).
Enjoy!
