If you were wondering how to make homemade bars, you will love reading this post (and the mold that Mastrad has released!). Cereal bars are delicious, healthy, provide energy and are the perfect food to take everywhere (at work, to school, for when you are exercising or simply to carry in your bag to eat mid-morning). Also, if you make the bars at home, you make sure you control the amount of sugar and the quality of the ingredients, and they have that plus of "I made them!", which is always an added pleasure, you will not be able to deny it to me.

What makes us very excited is that a mold for cereal bars that we love has arrived. It's well built, it's non-stick to make unmolding easy (and cleaning too...), it has a capacity for 10 bars ... and it's not silicone , which you know we never recommend, for health and for that nasty flavor that it usually leaves in food.

This new mold for bars is from Mastrad, and using it is also very easy: you make the mixture, insert it into the different cavities and bake. You can unmold it with the help of the tab included in the set, which will not scratch the mold.

In addition, Mastrad has included, along with the mold, a couple of boxes that are perfect to take the bars with you or to put safely in the school bag, without breaking them and ready to drink!

How to make cereal bars at home?

For the bars you need cereals, the filling, seasonings and some ingredient that apart from flavor amalgamates and brings together all the ingredients. We go with them:

1. Cereals : oat flakes are usually used, or a mixture of cereals with oats (wheat flakes, rice...).

2. A mix of dry ingredients to make the filling : here are some ideas for you to make your favorite combinations:

  • raisins
  • walnuts, hazelnuts or any chopped dry fruit
  • coconut
  • other dehydrated fruits such as apple, banana, strawberries, blueberries...
  • peeled sunflower or pumpkin seeds
  • Chocolate chips

3. Seasonings : you can add salt, sugar (when caramelizing it will also help to stick the bars) and spices to your liking (cinnamon, for example)

4. Some ingredients for the mixture to adhere and form the bar, such as:

  • honey or maple syrup
  • chocolate: you can add chocolate chips to the dry seasoning mixture, which when melted will help the bar to take consistency, but you can also make your own bar and cover the bar with melted chocolate, it will make the chocolate base (colorful and delicious) and It will add consistency to the bar.
  • margarine or butter, added to the initial mixture will be, along with honey, what will help the most to combine all the ingredients.

I encourage you to see the recipe below to get an idea of how to prepare the bars, and little by little try your own combinations until you find your favourite.
