Today Julio teaches us How to make authentic Moorish tea, a sweet tea that’s wonderfully comforting. Besides being comforting because it’s served hot, it’s a very healthy drink (especially if we keep the sweetness in check, as in our recipe).
Moroccan mint tea is a natural antioxidant that helps us care for our skin and keep it hydrated, and it’s also a diuretic drink, with all the advantages that entails. I encourage you to enjoy a delicious Moroccan mint tea first thing in the morning—you’ll see how good it is for your body! (and if you give yourself the bonus of having another after lunch, the benefits multiply).
To prepare this tea, we use the new WMF Vario electric kettle, which I find very elegant and especially practical, as it offers full temperature control, perfect for heating water and making infusions to your taste.
Ingredients (for 3 cups of tea)
- 400 ml of water (or about 180ml per cup we want to serve)
- Green tea
- Fresh spearmint
- White sugar
Preparation
- We remove the inner basket of the kettle WMF, and we fill the kettle with about 400 ml of water.
- We close the kettle and select the 80ºC option. We will see that it starts up and the blue light comes on.
- Meanwhile, add 3 spoonfuls of green tea to the filter (or 1 spoonful per cup you want to serve).
- Once it reaches 80ºC, the machine will beep. At that moment, we put the filter in and let it steep for 2 minutes, leaving the function of keep warm.
- We put 1 tablespoon of sugar in each cup we are going to serve.
- After 2 minutes have passed, remove the filter with the green tea and add the spearmint to the kettle (that is, add a good handful of spearmint to the water infused with the green tea). Let it steep for about 2 minutes.
- After that time, pour the tea into the cups, letting it fall from a height of a few centimeters so it can aerate. Ready to drink!
Notes:
The WMF Vario kettle is ideal for preparing these infusions because, on the one hand, it has an inner basket for placing the herbs and fruit peels you want to steep and, in addition, it features a second filter at the spout outlet, which ensures you can comfortably serve the drink without herb residue or the like.
