Today we put a twist on the classic dehydrated apple snack with a much more irresistible version: crispy apple and pear chips coated in chocolate and almond.
They are easily prepared in the air fryer, no added sugar, and combine the best of both worlds: the lightness of fruit and the indulgent touch of chocolate.
The result is crunchy, elegant, and delicious bites, perfect to accompany after-dinner coffee, for a special afternoon snack, or to surprise with a charming homemade treat.

Ingredients
For the chips:
- 2 red apples
- 2 green pears
For the coating:
- 200 g dark chocolate (melted)
- 3 tablespoons coconut oil (melted)
- To decorate: 100 g sliced almond
Preparation
Make the chips:
- Wash the apples and pears well. Slice them thinly, about 1–2 mm thick, using a mandoline or a very sharp knife so the slices are uniform.
- Place the slices in a single layer inside the WMF Multi Taste air fryer.* Cook at 150 °C for 15–20 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
- The slices will be ready when they are golden and crispy.
*If you prefer, you can also make them in the popular WMF food dehydrator, with large capacity.

Prepare the chocolate coating and serve:
- While the slices cool, melt the dark chocolate together with the coconut oil until you have a smooth, glossy mixture. You can do this in a double boiler or in the microwave in short intervals, stirring each time.
- Dip each apple and pear chip halfway into the melted chocolate and sprinkle sliced almonds on top before the chocolate hardens.
- Place the chips on baking paper and let them chill in the fridge for about 5 minutes, or until the chocolate has fully set.
- When the chocolate has hardened, transfer the chips to a bowl or plate and enjoy this crunchy, delicious bite!
