Today we put a twist on the classic dehydrated apple snack with a much more irresistible version: crispy apple and pear chips coated in chocolate and almond.

They are easily prepared in the air fryer, no added sugar, and combine the best of both worlds: the lightness of fruit and the indulgent touch of chocolate.

The result is crunchy, elegant, and delicious bites, perfect to accompany after-dinner coffee, for a special afternoon snack, or to surprise with a charming homemade treat.

Ingredients

For the chips:

  • 2 red apples
  • 2 green pears

For the coating:

  • 200 g dark chocolate (melted)
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil (melted)
  • To decorate: 100 g sliced almond

Preparation

Make the chips:

  1. Wash the apples and pears well. Slice them thinly, about 1–2 mm thick, using a mandoline or a very sharp knife so the slices are uniform.
  2. Place the slices in a single layer inside the WMF Multi Taste air fryer.* Cook at 150 °C for 15–20 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
  3. The slices will be ready when they are golden and crispy.

*If you prefer, you can also make them in the popular WMF food dehydrator, with large capacity.

Prepare the chocolate coating and serve:

  1. While the slices cool, melt the dark chocolate together with the coconut oil until you have a smooth, glossy mixture. You can do this in a double boiler or in the microwave in short intervals, stirring each time.
  2. Dip each apple and pear chip halfway into the melted chocolate and sprinkle sliced almonds on top before the chocolate hardens.
  3. Place the chips on baking paper and let them chill in the fridge for about 5 minutes, or until the chocolate has fully set.
  4. When the chocolate has hardened, transfer the chips to a bowl or plate and enjoy this crunchy, delicious bite!
