It's cherry season! And it's such a short season that we have to take advantage of it. Without a doubt, the best option is to eat them plain... But a wonderful idea is to make a cherry smoothie with them! It's super easy to prepare, it's refreshing, sweet (yes, we won't deny it!) and it's really delicious. Are you up for this cherry and vanilla smoothie?
In this post you will find the recipe to learn how to prepare a delicious cherry smoothie , and also the video recipe , so you can see with your own eyes how easy it is to make.
Ingredients
- 200 g cherries
- 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- 300 ml fresh whole milk, or semi or whole milk that is cold
Preparation
-
Pit the cherries - it's easy with a pitter (I definitely recommend theOXO pitter , which helps prevent splatters and dirty fingers).
- In the blender (we used the KitchenAid K400 blender ), add the milk.
- Add the 2 scoops of ice cream.
- Add the pitted cherries.
- Turn on the blender and blend for a couple of minutes or until you get a homogeneous texture.
- Serve immediately, now that it is fresh (I'll leave you some ideas for decorating it in the notes).
Grades
- You can keep the milkshake for a few hours, but remember that there is ice cream in it that has defrosted, as well as milk that is delicate. You can keep it in an airtight jar in the fridge for about 6 hours (that's what I do at most, because it flies away at home, but it will certainly still be delicious the next day). Keep in mind, though: as the hours go by, when the ice cream has completely defrosted, the milkshake loses some of its body and density, but serve it very cold as the flavour is still delicious.
- To preserve milkshakes, horchata or cream, you may be interested in knowing the Bormioli 2L Jug . Apart from its large capacity and its lid, it is very good because of its wide mouth, which is very easy to fill, and thanks to its pouring spout, it is also easy to serve.
- You can decorate the smoothie when serving! Some ideas that go very well with this cherry smoothie are:
- Coconut (definitely one of my favorite pairings for this smoothie): Garnish with shredded coconut or a few coconut flakes on top.
- A few cherries cut in half: either on the surface, or by cutting them in half you can leave one on the edge of the glass.
- Whipped Cream : A layer of whipped cream on top makes any milkshake super appealing and desirable.
- Granola or muesli : Add some crunch with granola or muesli.
- Chopped nuts : Chopped almonds, walnuts or pistachios can provide an interesting texture contrast.
- Lemon or orange zest : A touch of citrus can enhance the flavor of the cherry.
- Fresh mint leaves .
- Chocolate or caramel syrup : A drizzle of syrup on top adds extra sweetness.
- Colourful sparkles : you get a fun and festive presentation, the kids love it.
- Chocolate chips: enhance the cherry flavor.
