The recipe that Luisa brings us today, from Cocinando con mi Carmela , is a recipe that you will enjoy with the family without taking a lot of time in the kitchen. You love the idea, right? That being the case, I encourage you to try it, because these mussels with sauce are for dipping bread!

As you know I am passionate about cocottes , it has been three years since my first cocotte arrived at my house and since then I have not stopped cooking with it. It is a very versatile pot, as soon as you get a feel for it it is wonderful. Also, I like to cook slowly, as before, and the stews come out much richer. But at the same time it is very fast, for example, when cooking, since it takes temperature much earlier than the other pots. But now we go with the recipe that I have prepared for you.

At home we really like mussels, for some summer dinners or lunches they are a classic. I can either steam them in my cocotte or stew them like in this recipe, with which I don't even take 20 minutes.

I hope you like them, the mussels with cream are a classic.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg mussels clean
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 young garlic
  • 250 ml of cooking cream
  • 1 slice of bacon about 100 gr approximately
  • 1 glass of quality white wine
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. Pour the oil into the cocotte and heat carefully, as it warms up very quickly. Add the onion together with the garlic sprouts and the bacon, all very well chopped, and lower the temperature so that they do not burn. Sauté for about 10 minutes, until we see that it is browned.
  2. When ready, add the mussels, the glass of wine and the cream. Season with salt and pepper and cook for about 10 minutes with the lid on.
  3. When we lift the lid we will see that the mussels are open, but we will leave them for a few more minutes for the sauce to take on its flavor and we have them ready to serve. If any mussel has not opened, remove it.

For an original presentation, in Amsterdam it is very typical to present them with potato chips in the shape of a cane.

I hope you like this version of cooking mussels in sauce. I advise you to add sauce to the dish and accompany them with bread and a good white wine.
