Beatriz, author of the blog To Be Gourmet, brings us a recipe made with a gadget I was eager to show you. It's a small ice cream maker that we keep in the freezer to use whenever we want to make homemade popsicles. Its use is extremely simple: you only need to put the ingredients in and in a few minutes the ice creams are ready to eat. On this occasion Beatriz has prepared some delicious ice creams with very natural ingredients. Do you feel like trying?
If it's hard to get kids to eat fruit, with the ZOKU QUICK POP ice cream maker they won't stop this summer!
I've known about this product for a while and was looking forward to trying it. More than a typical kitchen utensil it's a real toy for young and old. Making popsicles, with all the possibilities the ZOKU system offers, is one of the most fun things I've ever done.
Choosing ingredients of a thousand colors, letting your imagination run wild thinking of more and more combinations, and doing magic watching our popsicles being made in less than 10 minutes right before our eyes.
The instructions provided are very simple, you just have to identify the tools and follow the steps.
I chose these options for their visual appeal and delicious flavor, although the variety of Zoku ice cream recipes is as wide as everyone's creativity. The first is a reminder of the fruit purée my mother used to make me when I was little: apple, orange and banana.
The second is a treat for my daughter Marta who wanted a pink popsicle. With cherries in season the choice was obvious!
Apple, banana and orange popsicle
Ingredients
- 1 apple
- 1/2 banana
- 25ml of water
- 2 level tablespoons of sugar
- 1 piece of lemon
- Orange juice from 2 oranges
Preparation
For two popsicles
- Peel the apple, reserving a few slices for garnish, drizzle them with lemon and set them aside. Blend the rest of the apple with one tablespoon of sugar and a little water so the mixture isn't so thick. Squeeze the oranges and add one tablespoon of sugar.
- Cut a few banana slices and halve them. Using the wand to stick the fruit, place the pieces of apple and banana on the walls of the Zoku mold (they stick because of the cold). Then pour the orange juice until it fills one third of the space, wait for it to solidify (3 or 4 min), add the apple juice, wait again and finish with more orange juice. Unmold when solid.
Yogurt popsicle with cherries, chocolate and milk
Ingredients
- 1 strawberry yogurt
- 7 cherries
- White chocolate filled with red fruits
- 50ml of milk
- 2 level tablespoons of sugar
Preparation
For two popsicles
- Dissolve the sugar in the milk and set aside. Pit the cherries and blend them. Put the strawberry yogurt in a bowl and strain the cherry juice over it so it falls very smooth onto the yogurt. It will take on a pretty strong pink color.
- Break a few pieces of white chocolate with red fruits and, with the help of the wand, place them on the walls of the Zoku mold (they stick because of the cold). Since the chocolate is harder to stick, dip it first in the sugared milk.
- Pour the cherry yogurt into the Zoku mold almost to the top. Wait for it to solidify (about 5 min), add the milk with sugar. Wait two or three more minutes and unmold.
Each time you remove a popsicle you can prepare another. In the ZOKU ice cream maker for three popsicles there are six sticks, so you can make six popsicles in one go. If you add the wide variety of possible Zoku recipes to that, imagine everything you can prepare in a moment!
I can't wait to make more!!!
