I bring you a breakfast of the Gods, sweet and delicious... And very easy to prepare! At home they will wave to you, while asking for one more. It is a toast with salted caramel and banana, a combination that is already a winner, which we complement with some more ingredients to make it more attractive to the eye and more sweet and delicious in every bite.
Take note! It's a sweet recipe that's full of energy thanks to the banana, honey and nuts, with no added sugars beyond the salted caramel or chocolate you'll spread on the slice and which you can control.
Ingredients
- Bread to taste (round wheat, spelt, wholemeal, seeded...), 500g or 1kg, according to each person's preference.
- Tiptree Salted Caramel
- Banana at its best, slightly ripe
- Pecan nuts
- Laminated coconut
- Soft honey
Preparation
- Cut the bread into slices and toast it .
- Spread salted caramel on toast.
- Cut the banana into slices or discs and place on top of the caramel, covering the bread.
- Coarsely chop the walnuts and sprinkle them over the banana.
- Spread the coconut flakes (quantity to taste), or alternatively, toasted sliced almonds.
- Pour honey over the top, helping the ingredients to stick to the toast and adding their own nuances.
- Enjoy!
Grades
- I love toasted bread, but if you have a good country bread and don't want to toast it, it will also be great soft.
- Pecans are softer and butterier, but you can use California walnuts if you prefer.
- Instead of salted caramel, you can spread the toast with melted chocolate, hazelnut spread or peanut butter. Personally, I prefer salted caramel or chocolate, they go great with banana.
- To decorate, you can use flaked coconut, or replace it with hazelnuts or flaked almonds. They combine perfectly with the banana and honey, and add the finishing touch to the dish.
- For personal preference, I use a mild honey, usually rosemary or multi-flower honey, or failing that, agave syrup; but in this recipe, if you like strong flavours, orange or chestnut honey would also be great.
- It is important to serve it after preparing it, or the banana will darken and lose its flavor.
- If you don't want to use honey, but you're in the mood for a sweet and delicious breakfast, you can use caramelized walnuts. It's a great option and every crunch tastes like a breakfast of champions. You can see how to make caramelized walnuts in this post .
