There's no better way to put a smile on your guests' faces than by serving this garlic bread with cheese as a snack at a dinner party. They'll go crazy! It results in a bread that's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside , with the outstanding and delicious flavor of the cheese mixture and garlic. Without a doubt, an occasion to make the saying come true: You won't even leave the crumbs!
To bake this bread recipe and get a crispy crust, it is ideal to do so in an iron cocotte. You can use a traditional iron cocotte or, as in our case, the Le Creuset iron bread cocotte. The high heat that the iron takes on, added to the retention of the steam generated by the dough, will give you the baking result that you so desire.
I hope you enjoy it a lot. Let's get to the bread! I'll leave you a video below so you can clearly see how easy it is to follow the step by step instructions .
Ingredients
- 540 g of strong flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp (10 g) icing sugar
- 10 g of dry active yeast
- 625ml – 750ml of warm water
- 60 ml of olive oil
- 60 ml melted butter
- 3 cloves of garlic, grated
- 100 g of grated mozzarella cheese
- 100 g grated cheddar cheese
- 30 g grated parmesan
- 10 g chopped parsley
Preparation
- In a bowl, add the flour, salt, sugar and yeast, and mix with a spatula.
- If you are going to prepare the dough with the KitchenAid food processor, add the water and oil to the mixer bowl and gradually add the flour mixture. Turn on the mixer and mix with the paddle attachment until all the flour has been added. Switch to the KitchenAid dough hook attachment and knead until you obtain a smooth dough, alternating with resting every 2 minutes of kneading.
- If kneading by hand, mix the water and oil with the flour mixture in a bowl and, once combined, transfer to a floured surface and knead, with alternating rest periods, until you obtain a soft dough.
- Brush a steel or glass bowl with oil and place the dough in it, covering the bowl with cling film or a damp cloth. Leave it in a warm place to rest until it doubles in size (approx. 1 hour).
- After resting, remove the dough from the bowl and place it on a floured surface. Shape it into a round ball.
- Place the ball in the base of theLe Creuset bread oven , cover with the domed lid and let rest for another 25-30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Place in the oven with the lid on and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the lid and continue baking.
- Bake for about 45 minutes, until golden. Tap the bread – it should sound hollow.
- While the bread is in the oven, use the KitchenAid food processor to blend the melted butter and garlic.
- After removing the bread from the oven, let it rest and cool a little.
- Cut it into 8 wedges along the top (use a good bread knife, like the one specifically made for Pallarés bread , which cuts through the crust like a devil), and put the melted garlic butter in the cuts. Also, put the mozzarella and cheddar cheese in the cuts and press them.
- Sprinkle the outside with Parmesan and parsley and return the bread to the oven for another 5 to 10 minutes, so that the cheese melts (if the bread was still warm, the melting process will be quicker).
- Remove from the oven and enjoy while warm.
Note:
There are several benefits to using the Le Creuset bread oven:
- the high temperature that the iron provides, which offers you perfect cooking of the dough;
- Its dome, which allows for the circulation of hot air ideal for perfect cooking of the dough, as well as its airtight seal so that the air does not escape;
- Apart from baking round bread, you can use it to make rolls , shortcrust pastry, puff pastry, brioche and all kinds of breads;
- And when you're not using it as a bread oven, the base of the oven is a perfect grill for roasting meats over the fire and in the oven.
If you do not have a bread oven, you can use a Le Creuset cast iron cocotte ; you will also get good baking and crust results with it.
