There are more and more of us who do not resign ourselves to eating processed products, who enjoy making recipes at home, with healthy ingredients and without preservatives, and even more so if they are products that are theoretically so-called "healthy".

That's why when it comes to looking for healthy snacks or snacks, at least I'm very demanding. I love cereal bars, but I've always been put off by the fact that you don't really know what they taste like and that they have many ingredients that you don't quite know what they are, plus when they have a certain fruit, I would like them to have another... In end that I would like to know what I eat and also personalize it to my palate.

This is what I have done today with these cereal bars thanks to the WMF dehydrator , which has allowed me effortlessly not only to dehydrate the fruits that I have used for these bars, but also to make them the ideal size with its mould, which includes the dehydrator. It is a very simple recipe ; Let's go with her:

WMF food dehydrator and Laura Ashley porcelain bowl

INGREDIENTS: (For about 14 bars like the ones in the photos)

  • 150 g oat flakes
  • 80 g of chopped nuts (in my case walnuts and hazelnuts)
  • 180g pitted dates, crushed into a paste
  • 80 g of heather honey (you can use the one you like best)
  • 50 g of dried fruit chopped into small pieces (I have used apple, Kaki that we are in season, banana and mango)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of salt

PREPARATION

  1. The day before we dehydrated the fruits, cutting them to a thickness of about 4 mm and removing the core in the case of the apple and the skin also in the kaki. We place them in separate trays so that the hot air circulates and we program in our WMF dehydrator , 8 hours at 70 degrees and we forget about it. She alone will stop after the time.
  2. The next morning, ready to prepare our bars, we preheat the oven to 180ºC heat up and down. We deposit the oat flakes and the nuts on a tray covered with baking paper. We toast about 10 minutes, until we begin to see the golden flakes. Remove and let cool a bit.
  3. Mix with the dehydrated fruits, cinnamon, salt, honey and crushed dates until you get a paste.
  4. Fill the mold with it (included in the purchase of the WMF dehydrator ), cover with film and place in the freezer for 10 minutes.
  5. Remove, carefully unmold and store in an airtight box , separated by sheets of brown paper.

Tips:

  • They keep well for 3-4 days, if you have time for them to last that long at home.
  • You may only want a bar mold. In that case, you can use Mastrad 's. But if you don't have a mold, roll out the dough in the form of a plate half a centimeter thick, take it to the freezer for 10-15 minutes, until it hardens, and when you take it out, cut it to your liking.
