You can make a delicious and healthy snack in the easiest way: this spiced chickpea recipe is an irresistible nibble, and it takes you just one minute to prepare, and then to dry!

This spiced chickpea recipe is ideal to make in a dehydrator: you can make as many as you want (using more or fewer trays of the machine or taking advantage of a free one while you dehydrate fruit or other foods) and knowing that you are consuming very little electricity, because the WMF dehydrator is a low-consumption machine.

Made in the dehydrator, you can leave them slightly tender or dry them almost completely, which is how I like them best: super crispy! You'll see it will be hard to stop eating them once you start.

Besides making them in a dehydrator, you could also make them in a pan, in the oven or, which is also very practical, in the Actifry oil-free air fryer or in the Smart Fryer Sage air oven -both options just as healthy as the dehydrator since they will be equally crispy and tasty.

Ingredients

  • Cooked chickpeas (amount to taste; you can fill one tray or all the dehydrator trays)
  • Salt*
  • Black pepper*
  • Sweet paprika*
  • Pimentón de la Vera*
  • One tablespoon of mild olive oil (optional)

The quantity of the ingredients will depend entirely on the amount of chickpeas and your preference for spiciness. The recipe provides more explanations.

Preparation

  1. Place a sheet of baking paper on each tray of the WMF dehydrator that you are going to use.
  2. Spread the chickpeas over the tray(s).
  3. Sprinkle the rest of the ingredients over them: add salt with your fingers, sprinkling a little over each one; grind the black pepper over all of them quickly, and sprinkle the paprika and sweet paprika with your fingers, without overdoing it.
  4. Add one tablespoon of oil per tray (you can omit it entirely if you prefer).
  5. Stir the chickpeas with the help of a spoon or spatula to homogenize the spices and close the dehydrator.
  6. Set the dehydrator to 70 ºC for 1,30 hours (you can set more or less time depending on whether you like them more tender or drier) and turn it on.

Enjoy this delicious snack! You'll see that once you start, you can't stop—consider yourself warned.

NOTE: Besides using them as a nibble at an aperitif, these chickpeas are definitely an ideal accompaniment in salads. Whether as an extra seasoning in your green salad or as a main element with a bit of mozzarella, they are perfect.
