There is nothing like simple and homemade recipes, and we cannot forget the compote that has always been made at home. The one we make most often is apple or apple and banana, but taking advantage of the strawberry season I encourage you to enjoy this delicious and easy recipe for apple and strawberry compote . A delight!

As you know, the compote does not require added sugar, because it is sweetened with the fruit's own sugar.

In a moment you have it on the fire and you can let it cook while you cook other things.

Refreshing and healthy, you can enjoy it as is by the spoonful, or it is perfect to put as a base for a yogurt or as an addition on top. The combination is perfect!

It is undoubtedly one of my children's favorite compotes, with a touch of cinnamon for them is a plus .

Strawberry and apple compote

Revol Cappuccino Cup (Iconic Revol Crinkle Cups)

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe apples
  • 6 medium or large strawberries
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (or a cinnamon stick)
  • Water

Preparation

  1. Clean and peel the apples, and start cutting them into slices about 3 or 5 millimeters thick while you turn them over by hand. Without too many worries, roughly, until you find the heart of the apples, which you will remove. What you cut, you can add directly to a steel or iron saucepan .
  2. Wash the strawberries, remove the stem and cut them in half. Add them to the saucepan.
  3. Fill with water up to 3/4 of the height that the fruit has taken, and put on the heat, at medium power.
  4. Add the cinnamon.
  5. When it starts to bubble, lower the heat to minimum power and keep it on the heat for about 30 minutes. Mix from time to time with the help of a spatula.
  6. Leave it on the fire until you see that the apple is very tender and the strawberries have fallen apart. For the fire and let cool.
  7. If you have added cinnamon sticks, remove it.
  8. Crush with an electric hand mixer , until lumps are eliminated, and store in the fridge in an airtight container.
  9. Serve in bowls or in ceramic glasses , alone or with yogurt.
