Since we are about to enter autumn, I thought it would be nice to share some secrets and ideas that help me a lot in creating a perfect autumn table.

Autumn is a very colourful and peaceful season of the year, it is also full of special and beautiful fruits and it is also full of cold weather. So with all this in mind we can use some ideas to make a beautiful seasonal table, each one in their own way or leaving it to their taste.

I really like making centrepieces with natural elements. I think they bring a lot of life to the table, especially in autumn, as we can take advantage of all those colourful leaves that are falling and reddish branches to create authentic natural decoration on the table. But a table is not a centrepiece, on the contrary: many different elements can be arranged, with or without volume, to make it special. The centrepiece can be present, or not.

Setting a beautiful autumn table is not a mystery, but there are different techniques or tips that are worth keeping in mind, ideal for making the whole table in harmony and for each piece to fit perfectly. What do you say? Do you dare to surprise your guests with a beautiful autumn table? Let's get to it, I'll leave you with the tips and ideas, and that doesn't mean that you have to follow them all, play with them or try to practice with the ones you like the most or that catch your attention to make the table to you and your style.

Surprise with rustic blue colors

If you use an unexpected or surprising color palette on your table, I'm sure you'll immediately catch the attention of your guests. I invite you to use a rustic or washed blue, which you can combine with other more neutral colors but fill the table with that peace and joy that blue always brings us.

For inspiration, take a look at this autumn table in the photo. It is presented in different shades of blue, the main one being that of the tablecloth. It is enhanced by other shades of blue and by the white, grey or cream tones of the mini cocottes, plates or other table elements. These serve as unifying secondary colours.

A very important factor of an autumn table is to add some natural contrast , such as this centerpiece made with natural red branches.

Use colors that create contrast

Contrast plays an important role in making certain pieces look great or in generating that joy in the eye that you are looking for when presenting the table.

You can find contrast by playing with the colour of the dishes, pots... or by arranging natural elements in a colour that stands out from the rest. You will see that the table suddenly comes to life, even with a nice touch of colour in just one spot.

Lay out a simple white tablecloth and you'll have the perfect setting for a garnish of fruit and flowers, or for the china or any other element to stand out. The combination of lime with burgundy, orange and white is ideal, as it reflects the classic colors of autumn. But there are other colors, such as gray, that you can combine or cream, which are neutral and go very well with everything, so you can make any piece of more intense colors stand out in them.

A very important aspect is to draw diners' attention to the interior of the table with a centerpiece.

Keep a palette of soft neutrals

With white, cream, light grey and gold colours you will be able to highlight the naturalness of the table and fill the atmosphere with peace, elegance and calm. To add a touch of colour, you can use some printed cloth napkins, for example, or let the food be the protagonist with its colour and smell.

Other ideas could be to bring white to the center of the table and display small pumpkins as a natural decorative element, or to make a centerpiece with dried autumn foliage with small gold details.

Decorate the table with seasonal elements

If you want to bring autumn to your table, use pine cones, chestnuts, pumpkins, classic seasonal leaves in green, red, yellow or orange... You can also play with using a wooden trivet... All you have to do is bring autumn from the forest to the table and create an autumnal table.

If you use simple colored tableware, you will have a wide range of possibilities, and you can allow yourself to add color to the table with placemats, cloth napkins and a central jar filled with colorful flowers, finishing with small pumpkins, pine cones or other fruits scattered around the table.

Combine modern and rustic elements

This autumn table combines rustic and modern elements. From different chairs to giving a rustic touch to a table with modern plates and cutlery, or adding some gold-coloured pieces to add elegance.

Small details make the difference

Something as simple as a string, or putting some seasonal elements on the table, make a difference in our daily life. Some pine cones, a string, a note, an envelope with a chocolate inside, some seeds scattered on the table as decoration... There are countless small details that will decorate the table, and if you use raw, orange or toasted tones, that detail will smell of autumn.

Use a monochromatic palette

Using a monochromatic palette always gives a more modern look and if setting the table is difficult for you, this is a good way to start: simply choose a color, I personally love orange as it is a very characteristic color of the Autumn. Once you have chosen the base colour, you can complement it with more neutral colours such as ivory or white, to avoid the overall appearance of the table being overwhelming. Doesn't the colour orange seem ideal for an autumn table? Try it too Combine it with chocolate or lime and pure white. You will get a very charming combination.
