We can already find the best summer fruits in the markets: peaches, nectarines, plums, watermelons and of course melons. All of these fruits have the characteristic of being very sweet and rich in water, which makes them our allies to maintain a good level of hydration at this time of year.
And of course, in summer we also want to eat fresh things and fruit sorbets are an excellent resource . Since I have my KitchenAid sorbet maker accessory , I prepare my own sorbets in no time . The varieties are endless, since you can make them from just one fruit or combine several. Today I have chosen to make a sorbet with cantaloupe melons, which are sweet and have a very striking orange color.
You should keep in mind that to use the ice cream maker accessory (the Kitchen Aid ice cream maker), you should leave it in the freezer for about 15 hours and the mixture you are going to put in the ice cream maker should be very cold. This way, you will get an optimal result.
Kitchen Aid with ice cream and ramekin attachment Le Creuset
Ingredients
- 2 cantaloupe melons
- the juice of a lemon
- a bunch of mint
- 100gr of sugar
- 200ml water
Elaboration
- Prepare a syrup by putting the water and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to the boil for 5 minutes. After this time, remove from the heat and add a bunch of mint. Leave to infuse for 10 minutes.
- Cut the melon. Discard the skin and seeds. Put the pulp into the blender and blend it (using a blender or food processor ).
- Strain the syrup and add it to the crushed melon pulp. Mix everything together and refrigerate for a few hours until it is completely cold.
- Attach the ice cream maker attachment to your KitchenAid and add the melon smoothie. Set to speed 2 and leave to churn for 25-30 minutes. This will give you the texture of a slush. If you like it that way, you can serve it in glasses and drink it through a straw. However, if you want it to be firmer, you should put it in the freezer for 2 hours.
- Whether you choose to serve it as a granita or a sorbet, finish by decorating it with a few mint leaves.
Refrigerator accessory for Kitchen Aid mixer
I served this delicious melon sorbet in Le Creuset ramekins . They are very versatile containers that I use to serve both sweet and savoury recipes.
Note: The amount of sugar is approximate. It will depend on your personal tastes and the sweetness of the fruit. You can choose not to add any, or replace it with other options such as honey , agave syrup or the sweetener of your choice.

Gracias
