You can make a delicious and healthy snack in the easiest way: this spiced chickpea recipe is an irresistible snack, and it only takes a minute to prepare. And then you can dry it!

This spiced chickpea recipe is ideal for making in a dehydrator : you can make them in as much quantity as you want (using more or fewer trays in the machine or taking advantage of the fact that you have one free while you dehydrate fruit or other foods) knowing that you are consuming very little electricity, because the WMF dehydrator is a low-consumption machine.

Made in the dehydrator, you can either leave them slightly tender or dry them almost completely, which is how I like them best: Super crunchy! You'll see that you'll start and never stop eating them.

Spiced chickpeas in a dehydrator

Apart from making them in a dehydrator, you could also make them in a frying pan, in the oven or, which is also very practical, in the oil-free Actifry air fryer or in the Sage Smart Fryer air oven - both of which are equally healthy options as the dehydrator as they will be just as crispy and delicious.

Chickpeas in a dehydrator - recipe

Ingredients

  • Cooked chickpeas (quantity to taste, you can fill one tray or all the trays in the dehydrator)
  • Salt*
  • Black pepper*
  • Sweet paprika*
  • Paprika from La Vera*
  • A tablespoon of mild olive oil (optional)

The amount of ingredients will depend entirely on the amount of chickpeas and your taste for spiciness. More explanations are given in the recipe.

Preparation

  1. Place baking paper on each tray of the WMF dehydrator you are going to use.
  2. Spread the chickpeas over the tray(s).
  3. Sprinkle the rest of the ingredients on top: add salt with your fingers, sprinkling a little on top of everything; add pepper with the mill, passing over everything quickly; and add paprika and allspice with your fingers, without overdoing it.
  4. Add a tablespoon of oil to each tray (you can completely skip adding it).
  5. Stir the chickpeas with a spoon or spatula to homogenize the spices and cover the dehydrator.
  6. Set the dehydrator to 70ºC for 1.30 hours (you can set more or less time depending on whether you prefer softer or drier food) and turn it on.

Enjoy this delicious snack! You'll see that if you start, you can't stop, you've been warned.

NOTE: In addition to being used as a snack in an appetizer, these chickpeas are undoubtedly an ideal accompaniment in salads. Whether as an additional condiment in your green salad or as the main ingredient with a little mozzarella, they are the most ideal.
