It's cherry season! And it's such a short time that we have to make the most of it. Without a doubt the best option is to eat them fresh... But a wonderful idea is to make cherry milkshake with them! It's super easy to prepare, refreshing, indulgent (yes, we won't deny it!) and absolutely delicious. Are you in for this cherry and vanilla milkshake?
In this post you'll find the recipe to learn how to make a delicious cherry milkshake, and also the video recipe, so you can see with your own eyes how incredibly easy it is to make.

Ingredients
- 200 g cherries
- 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- 300 ml whole fresh milk, or semi-skimmed or whole milk that is cold
Preparation
-
Pit the cherries - it's an easy task with a pitter (I definitely recommend the OXO pitter, which prevents splashes and staining your fingers).
- In the countertop blender (we use the KitchenAid K400 blender), add the milk.
- Add the 2 scoops of ice cream.
- Add the pitted cherries.
- Turn on the blender and blend for a couple of minutes or until the texture is smooth.
- Serve immediately, while it's fresh (in notes I leave some ideas for garnishing).
Notes
- You can keep the milkshake for a few hours, but remember there is ice cream in it that has melted, as well as milk which is delicate. You can store it in an airtight pitcher in the fridge for about 6 hours (that's what I do at most, because it disappears fast at home, but surely it will still be good the next day). Keep in mind, though: as hours pass and the ice cream finishes melting, the milkshake loses some body and thickness, but serve it very cold — the flavor remains delicious.
- To store milkshakes, horchata or cream, you might be interested in the Bormioli 2L Pitcher. Besides its large capacity and lid, it works well because of its wide mouth, which is very easy to fill, and thanks to its pouring spout it's also easy to serve.
- You can garnish the milkshake when serving! Some ideas that go very well with this cherry milkshake are:
- Coconut (definitely one of my favorite pairings for this milkshake): garnish with grated coconut or some coconut flakes on top.
- Some cherries cut in half: either on the surface, or with a half-cut you can place one on the rim of the glass.
- Whipped cream: A layer of whipped cream on top makes any milkshake super attractive and desirable.
- Granola or muesli: Add a bit of crunch with granola or muesli.
- Chopped nuts: Chopped almonds, walnuts or pistachios can provide an interesting texture contrast.
- Lemon or orange zest: A citrus touch can enhance the cherry flavor.
- Fresh mint leaves.
- Chocolate or caramel syrup: A drizzle of syrup on top adds extra sweetness.
- Colored sprinkles: you get a fun, festive presentation — kids love it.
- Chocolate shavings: enhance the cherry flavor.
