There’s no easier way to make bread than with a bread maker. Just add the ingredients and choose the program you want. It also lets you make jam without having to stand there stirring the mixture. In short, a real luxury.
Although the bread maker comes with a very comprehensive recipe book, Beatriz (author of To Be Gourmet) brings us a multigrain bread recipe that we assure you is delicious—perfect for enjoying good bread and great to pair with any diet after summer. Enjoy!
Waking up in the morning to freshly baked bread ready for breakfast is a real luxury. If we also pair it with a seasonal fruit jam—figs, for example, brought from the market the day before—the experience becomes a feast for gourmets.
Best of all, this scenario can become a reality without much effort by simply setting aside a little time the afternoon before. While we read a book or do any other leisure or relaxing activity, our bread and our jam cook themselves in the Moulinex bread maker.
The best part: a healthy way to start the day, with a bread that can be included in any post-summer diet, and that won’t be compromised by a couple of spoonfuls of our special jam because… two isn’t the same as twenty-two.

Ingredients
For the multigrain bread:
- 380gr of water at room temperature
- 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 500gr of bread flour
- 50gr of wheat bran
- 80gr of pumpkin seeds
- 100gr of flax seeds
- A packet of baker's yeast
For the fig jam:
- 450gr of figs
- 250gr of sugar
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 10 blueberries
Preparation:
First, we're going to make the bread.
- We put in the basket of the bread maker all the ingredients.
- We select the "750gr" size, and the roast level we prefer (I like "light roast").
- Next, select program 4 to make the bread.
- Once finished, leave the basket out of the machine for about ten minutes to cool, then unmold the bread. If you turn the paddles from underneath by hand, it releases more easily.
Let's make the jam.
- We put the jam ingredients inside the bread maker. You can add the figs peeled and cut into quarters, or you can cut them in half and, with a spoon, easily scoop out the pulp from inside.
- We select the corresponding program for making the jam, number 15.
- In about an hour we’ll have the jam made, and we’ll just need to put it in jars, let it cool slightly, and put it in the fridge.
Notes:
- We add blueberries to the fig jam because, besides being rich in pectin, which helps naturally thicken the jam, they are an excellent source of antioxidants and flavonoids.
- Regarding the bread, since it’s freshly baked it keeps for several days in perfect condition, and if there are only a few of us at home we can freeze it sliced and toast it right away without needing to thaw it.
In short, a delicious and very healthy breakfast to take on the day packed with vitamins and energy. Energy provided by carbohydrates—primarily slow-release—that will keep us from the temptation to snack for the rest of the day.
