As a true lover of traditional and healthy cooking, a meat grinder is a must in my kitchen. With that fantastic tool I make meat for my sofritos, meatballs, meatloaves, empanada fillings, sausages, steak tartare and burgers.

I like to grind the meat at home adding to the mix the type of meat I fancy most and in the amount that suits me. I almost always add some of my favorite ingredients like garlic, pepper, cinnamon, clove, mushrooms, wine, etc. to give another flavor to my recipes and add a touch of originality to each preparation. And you know what? That everything tastes much better if I make it at home!

I normally use the Kitchen Kraft manual meat grinder. It’s ideal for preparing ground meat, burgers or sausages. It is made of cast iron. It is very easy to fasten securely to a surface, and very comfortable to work with. It includes three mincing discs of different sizes and a sausage-making accessory. They are very easy to make, even if you want your children to help you cook; it’s a fun proposal to get them to help in the kitchen. You’ll see how much they enjoy being your little helpers!

On some occasions I have to grind large quantities of meat. That’s why I keep the Moulinex meat grinder in a special place in my cupboard.

This grinder has a high-performance motor that helps me grind very quickly. It’s very easy to use and transporting it is effortless. I trust this brand a lot because it always gives me very satisfactory results. When I have time, I grind fairly large amounts and then freeze the meat in portions. When I fancy a sofrito for spaghetti or need empanada filling, I already have my portions ready in the freezer. I think it’s a super practical trick!

Another idea to make the most of the grinder is to prepare a different dish: when I have leftover food or part of a preparation, I blend it and voilà!, I get a completely different dish.

Do you buy meat already ground? Do you have a go-to recipe? Any tips I should know?

You know I love to share my experience but also learn from you! :)
