Today we're giving the classic dried apple snack a delicious twist: crunchy apple and pear chips dipped in chocolate and almonds.

They’re easy to make in the air fryer, with no added sugar, and combine the best of both worlds – the lightness of fruit and the indulgence of chocolate.

The result is a batch of crunchy, elegant and tasty bites – perfect with your afternoon coffee, for a special snack or to surprise someone with a charming homemade treat.

Ingredients

For the chips:

  • 2 red apples
  • 2 green pears

For the topping:

  • 200 g dark chocolate (melted)
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil (melted)
  • To decorate: 100 g flaked almonds

Preparation

Make the chips:

  1. Wash the apples and pears well. Slice them thinly (1–2 mm) using a mandoline or sharp knife for even slices.
  2. Place the slices in a single layer in the WMF Multi Taste air fryer.* Cook at 150 °C for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  3. The slices are ready when golden and crisp.

*Alternatively, use the spacious WMF food dehydrator.

Prepare the chocolate topping and serve:

  1. While the slices cool, melt the dark chocolate with the coconut oil until smooth and shiny. Use a bain-marie or microwave in short bursts, stirring each time.
  2. Dip each apple and pear chip halfway into the chocolate and sprinkle with flaked almonds before the chocolate sets.
  3. Place on baking paper and chill in the fridge for 5 minutes or until the chocolate is fully set.
  4. Once firm, transfer to a bowl or plate and enjoy this crunchy, delicious treat!
