A few months ago I found myself in France, accompanied by some friends, at a company I didn't know much about. The idea I had of Pillivuyt was that they mainly sold tableware and were very focused on the hospitality sector, so I hadn't paid much attention. Well, one day those friends took me to visit Pillivuyt because we were nearby; "they have a product you're going to love," they assured me.

Pillivuyt is one of the oldest French porcelain manufacturers in the world, and one of the most prestigious in France. In fact, it holds the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label awarded by the French government to companies for the excellence of their traditional manufacturing processes. It was founded in 1818 by Jean Louis Richard Pillivuyt in Mehun sur Yèvre, right in the heart of France, and has managed to evolve to meet the durability and resistance criteria of the hospitality industry, without losing its traditional design and manufacture.

That product they said I would love, I certainly did! It's one of their latest novelties: some porcelain containers that are very versatile, in fact they are porcelain cocottes, which we can use to cook on any heat source (including induction), and we can even bake sponge cakes, cook, or gratin in the oven. We can use these containers like a casserole, but with the advantage that they weigh almost nothing and are more resistant than ceramic casseroles. In addition, they are completely natural and hygienic: they do not react with any type of food and do not absorb fats, odors, or bacteria since they are non-porous. Plus, food doesn't stick to their surface, so they are very easy to clean (even in the dishwasher).

I'd say that, for me, two things really make these utensils special: first, that despite being porcelain, thanks to their diffuser base they can also be used on induction; second, that although they are a cooking utensil, they are so light, beautiful and compact that they can be used a lot every day! From storing food leftovers in the fridge or freezer (with the possibility of reheating them in the microwave, on the stove or in the oven in the same container), to baking bread or a cake in the oven; we can use them to cook everyday dishes or to prepare a delicious stew by browning the meat on the stove and finishing the cooking in the oven. Even that beautiful lid can be used as a serving plate! All this with the peace of mind of using such a natural and hygienic material as porcelain.

Pillivuyt porcelain cocottes are available in these three different formats.

As you can see, with the Pillivuyt cocottes I was smitten! I loved their design, their concept and all the possibilities and advantages that porcelain offers us. But since I was at Pillivuyt, I took the opportunity to have a look at everything they offer and I found a beautiful salad bowl that we also brought to the shop. It's made of porcelain, with a lovely design and is available in two sizes.

I hope you like Pillivuyt and the cocottes and the salad bowls as much as I do. You'll tell me what you think!
