We can already find the best summer fruits in the markets: peaches, nectarines, plums, watermelons and of course melons. All of these fruits have the characteristics that they are very sweet and very rich in water, which makes them our allies to maintain a good level of hydration at this time of year.

And of course, in summer we also want to drink fresh things and fruit sorbets are an excellent resource . Since I have my KitchenAid straw maker accessory , I prepare my own straws in no time . The varieties are endless, since you can make them from a single fruit or combine several. Today I chose to make a sorbet with some cantaloupe melons, which are sweet and have a very striking orange color.

You must keep in mind that to use the sorbet maker accessory (the Kitchen Aid refrigerator), you must leave it in the freezer for about 15 hours and the mixture that you are going to put in the sorbet maker must be very cold. In this way, you will achieve an optimal result.

Kitchen Aid with Le Creuset Ice Cream and Ramekin Accessory

Ingredients

  • 2 cantaloupe melons
  • the juice of a lemon
  • a bunch of mint
  • 100g of sugar
  • 200ml water

Elaboration

  1. Prepare a syrup by putting the water and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes. After time, remove it from the heat and add a bunch of mint. Let it infuse for 10 minutes.
  2. Cut the melon. Discard the skin and seeds. Put the pulp in the blender glass and blend it (with the help of a blender or food processor ).
  3. Strain the syrup and add it to the crushed melon pulp. Mix everything and keep it in the refrigerator for a few hours, until it is very cold.
  4. Mount the refrigerator accessory on your KitchenAid and add the melon smoothie. Turn to speed 2 and let it butter for 25-30 minutes. With this time, the texture of a granita is obtained. If you like it that way, you can serve it in glasses and drink it with a straw. On the other hand, if you want it to be more consistent, you should keep it in the freezer for 2 hours.
  5. Whether you choose to present it as a granita or as a sorbet, finish by decorating with some mint leaves.

I have served this delicious melon sorbet in Le Creuset brand ramekins . They are very versatile containers that I use to serve both sweet and savory recipes.

Note: the amount of sugar is approximate. It will depend on your personal tastes and the sweetness of the fruit. You can choose not to add it, or substitute it with other options such as honey , agave syrup or the sweetener you prefer.

Gracias
