To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the kettle, Graves redesigned the whistle. He chose to turn the bird into a fascinating mythological yet futuristic creature – a creature halfway between a dragon and a flying dinosaur, hence the name “Tea Rex”, reminiscent of “Tyrannosaurus Rex”.
