The Lodge Fluted cast iron Pie Pan is one of those pieces that, as soon as you hold it in your hands, you understand why some recipes simply turn out better. This is a sturdy pan, with fluted sides that create that beautiful finish in quiches, pies and sweet tarts, and made of cast iron, a material that stands out for its ability to retain and distribute heat evenly. Absolutely ideal for shortcrust pastry!

Sturdy, warp-resistant, heat-resistant and especially beautiful, this cast iron pan will earn a prominent place on your list of favorite pans for baking your best sweet and savory tarts with a charming rustic look. Its lovely design with the fluted edge gives it a beautiful appearance. You can prepare your tarts and also cook savory dishes on the stove, then take the pan to the oven to bake or broil. A marvel!

It features two side handles that make it easier to handle and provide a more secure grip, so you can use it in the kitchen, move it from the stove to the oven, or from the oven to the table. You’ll see how great your apple pie, meat pie, or tuna empanada looks — the delicious kind you always make so well. The constant, even distribution of that heat helps the filling set and cook beautifully, and the pie base stays crispy and perfectly browned, without softening.

This 23 cm round cast iron pan delivers wonderful results thanks to its excellent heat retention and even heating.

And here is the key: cast iron not only heats up, but also maintains heat consistently, allowing doughs to bake evenly from the base to the edges. This results in pies with well-baked, crisp, golden bases - without soggy spots or uneven baking - and perfectly cooked fillings. It is especially rewarding in recipes such as quiches, savory pies, or fruit pies, where the balance between crust and filling is essential. Even so, you can also bake all kinds of cakes in it.

What you can make with the Lodge fluted cast iron pie pan

  1. Classic pies (apple, berry, pear…)
  2. Quiches and savory pies with crispy bases
  3. Roasted vegetable or cheese pies (preparing the filling in the pan itself on the stove).
  4. Focaccias or flatbreads with a defined edge
  5. Tarte Tatin (from start to finish, with caramelizing on the stove and then baking the dough).
  6. Baked desserts with a rustic, even finish
  7. Round bread or filled pizza dough.
  8. Filled hand pies (with the option of making the filling directly on the stove in the same pan whenever you want).
  9. Pasta dishes, cooked on the stove and broiled in the oven
  10. Roasting meat and vegetables in the oven, like a roasting dish.

Factory-seasoned cast-iron pan (Keep this in mind!)

The pan arrives factory-seasoned, ready for you to bake your best pie without doing anything else to it. Its factory natural seasoning gives it fantastic nonstick performance and allows for excellent baking. But it is not only perfect for baking pies, quiches or empanadas. With this round pan you can also roast meat, vegetables, or make bread. And you’ll have the perfect ally for your  cold desserts.

The pan is made in a single piece of cast iron, so the handles get hot. But you can use the Lodge silicone handle holders for cookware, to handle it safely without burning yourself.

NOTE: Factory seasoning gives Lodge cast iron pieces a rustic finish with certain imperfections, such as a brown mark on the rim, the handle, or the grip. Don’t worry! These are small spots where the oil has not bonded with the iron, but you can use your piece without any problem. This is not a defect or rust and it will disappear with use and normal care.

And remember that this is an unenameled cast-iron piece, so it is vital to dry it thoroughly immediately after washing.

Why we like the Lodge pan

  1. Because the bases really do turn out better: cast iron achieves that crisp, well-baked finish that is hard to get with lighter pans.
  2. Because it’s truly a versatile piece: you can use it in the oven and also on the stove, which is unusual for pie pans.
  3. Because it gets better with time: the more you use it, the better it performs, naturally developing nonstick qualities.
  4. Because it’s built to last a lifetime: sturdy, reliable, and with no coating to wear down over the years.
  5. A pan designed for enjoying stove-top cooking and making pies… and for ensuring every recipe you make turns out well, every time.
