The Emile Henry ceramic tagine is one of the brand's most iconic pieces, and an ideal utensil for lovers of chup chup and flavour.

A tagine, with its pointed hat-shaped lid, allows for perfect steam circulation for tasty cooking of our recipes. It is especially suitable for recipes that require long cooking and that include spices and aromatic herbs , whether they are recipes for meat, fish or vegetables.

The circulation of steam with the aromas incorporated into the recipes and the long simmering process allow you to obtain extraordinary results in terms of flavour and tenderness of the food. In addition, it has a very attractive presentation on the table and keeps the food warm for a long time.

What is also very interesting is that you can use the base independently as a traditional saucepan for all kinds of recipes, both on the stove and in the oven, which makes the tagine a truly versatile kitchen utensil.

It can be used on the stove (gas or ceramic) and also in the oven , and can be washed in the dishwasher.

Thanks to its exclusive use of organic and natural products and its artisanal manufacturing process, Emile Henry ceramics allow us to enjoy natural and healthy cooking. In addition, ceramics are an excellent heat diffuser, which means that we will achieve gentle and gradual cooking . Emile Henry always recommends starting cooking at a low heat to achieve gentle cooking that preserves all the properties of the food. In addition, its non-porous glaze prevents the absorption of odours or tastes, it is very resistant to the small knocks that usually occur in the kitchen and it can be cleaned in the dishwasher without losing its properties or colour.

Tips for preparing and cooking in a tagine

  • For best results, always start at low heat.
  • Make sure there is always juice in your tagine during cooking. If necessary, you can add a small glass of water.
  • Tajine is cooked using the circulation of steam inside the lid: keep it closed during cooking.
  • The longer and gentler the cooking, the better the result. Don't hesitate to exceed the cooking times indicated in the recipes.
  • When cooking a tagine, prioritize a gentle heat source.
  • You can also use your tagine for other slow-cooked recipes, such as stews or steamed casseroles, or you can use it without a lid for heating or roasting in the oven.

Tips for using and maintaining tagine

  • Before first use, remove all labels from your product, if necessary with a mild solvent, then clean thoroughly.
  • Always start on low heat for the first 5 minutes and then gradually increase the temperature.
  • Do not heat the base of your tagine when empty: make sure to always pour a little water or oil into the bottom.
  • Cook on the burner that is the most suitable size for your tagine (often the largest one).
  • Thanks to its highly resistant enamel, you can use metal utensils while preparing your tagines without fear of scratching it.
  • When the dish is hot, do not place it in contact with cold surfaces or cold water. When removing it from the oven, place it on a neutral surface (a wooden board, a cloth, etc.).
  • For cleaning, if residue remains, soak your utensil in a mixture of hot water and white vinegar before placing it in the dishwasher.
