This Lodge Cast Iron Multi-Purpose Casserole Set with Lid is a two-piece cast iron set with great versatility. This set consists of a 26cm, 4.7L capacity tall cocotte style casserole and a 26cm lid with handles that can be used as a frying pan, a shallow casserole, a griddle and a baking dish . A 2-piece set with all the functionality of a cookware set, with which you can cook any recipe.
The cast iron construction of the pieces ensures excellent temperature retention and even heat distribution , so you have a Dutch oven ideal for stewing, braising or roasting at low heat, on the stovetop, in the oven, on the barbecue or on the campfire. The lid is perfect for keeping the pot moist and warm, and with just a flip you have a great skillet for meat or sautéing vegetables, a shallow casserole for cooking or a wonderful pan for baking a loaf of bread.
Lodge cast iron pieces are heavy, and not dishwasher safe . The good thing about them (aside from being amazing, natural pans) is that they come pre-seasoned at the factory , so you can start using them right away when they arrive at your home (no pre-seasoning required). But remember: they are cast iron, not vitrified , so they must be dried before they are washed, or rust will form. If rust does form, just wipe it with a cloth to restore it. If you want, you can season it from time to time... but you're doing it with every use! Use it daily, dry it immediately, and you'll have a pan that will last a lifetime (and some incredibly tasty recipes with natural flavors).

You can use both pieces together or separately. To cook with them, just let them heat up gradually, so that the heat is evenly distributed throughout the piece, and start cooking when they are very hot. To clean them, let them cool down first; wash them with a sponge and non-abrasive detergent and lightly oil the inside surface to prevent rust. For optimal preservation, it is recommended to always store them in a dry place.
Please note that the saucepan and multi-purpose lid are made of cast iron and are made in one piece, so the handles get hot. With the Lodge Silicone Saucepan Handle Protectors , you can handle the saucepan and lid safely and without burning yourself.
NOTE: Factory seasoning gives Lodge cast iron pieces a rustic finish with some imperfections, such as a brown mark on the rim, handle or grip. Don't worry! These are small spots where the oil hasn't soaked into the iron, but your piece is safe to use. This is not a defect or rust and will disappear with regular use and care.
To cover the casserole and, turned upside down, as a frying pan, griddle, shallow casserole or baking dish. With the lid on, the set becomes a Dutch oven, ideal for slow-cooked stews and baking bread.
26 cm in diameter with a capacity of 4.7 litres. The casserole is 11.6 cm high, or 16 cm with the lid. The set weighs about 5.95 kg: it is sturdy, and that weight is exactly what makes it hold the heat so well.
No. Lodge seasons it at the factory with vegetable oil, so you can use it as soon as it arrives. Every time you cook with fat, the seasoning gets better.
Yes. It works on all hobs, including induction, as well as in the oven, on the barbecue and over a campfire.
By hand, with hot water and a sponge; cast iron is not dishwasher safe. Dry it straight away and, if you like, rub it with a thin layer of oil. If a little rust ever appears, scrub it off with a scourer and oil it again. You'll find all the details in our Lodge guide (in Spanish).
