With its 38 cm diameter, the Lodge cast iron round griddle and pizza pan is an impressive piece. With it you'll cook wonderfully, both in the oven and on the barbecue, whether it's pizzas, bread, biscuits or pies perfectly baked with a crispy, golden base, or meat, fish or vegetables with an authentic, natural flavour.
The griddle has a large, completely flat surface and is made entirely of cast iron with no non-stick coating. The cast iron surface distributes and retains heat excellently, resulting in even, high-temperature cooking and results full of flavour.
Its round design with handles, like a tray, makes it perfect as a griddle and as a pizza stone, you'll see how well they turn out! Crispy, perfectly baked dough, full of aroma and flavour and with that golden base pizza lovers crave.
Whether you use it in your home oven or opt for the barbecue, the fireplace or a wood-fired oven, you'll see that everything turns out perfectly seared, golden, crispy and tasty. From pizza, quiche, focaccia or apple tart to burgers, a good entrecôte, roasted vegetables or salmon steaks, this griddle is ideal for everything. And from the oven or barbecue to the table, thanks to its wide handles that let you handle it safely.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Lodge iron pieces are heavy and are not dishwasher-safe. The good news (apart from being incredible, natural pieces) is that they come pre-seasoned from the factory, so you can start using them as soon as they arrive (no prior seasoning needed). But remember: they are cast iron but not enamelled, so it must be dried straight after washing or it will rust. If rust appears, simply rub it with a scouring pad to restore it. Use it often, dry it straight away, and you'll have a dish for life (and incredibly tasty recipes with natural flavours!).

What makes the Lodge cast iron round griddle and pizza pan special
-
Its sturdy construction. The round griddle is made of cast iron, with no non-stick coating or toxic elements. This sturdiness lets you use any utensil when cooking with it, even stainless steel ones.
-
Its functional design. Its iron construction makes it perfect for use as a griddle or pizza pan in the oven or directly over the flame of a campfire, fireplace or barbecue. It's a perfect flat griddle and roasting tray, or a base for baking tarts, quiches or sweet or savoury pies. Being so large and retaining temperature so well, you'll get the most out of it on these heat sources. You can use it on your home hob, but you'll need a large enough burner.
-
Its durability. As it's made entirely of cast iron, it will far outlast a lifetime.
-
Its excellent balance of quality, durability and price. They are affordable pieces with exceptional durability and unquestionable quality.
-
Its textured finish. Lodge makes all its iron cookware in a single piece using unique sand moulds; this gives them their characteristic slightly textured finish on both the inside and outside surfaces and makes each piece unique. With use, a patina forms that will eventually create a smooth, naturally non-stick surface.
-
Its factory seasoning. All Lodge cast iron pieces are seasoned at the factory, so that they are ready to use when they arrive. Seasoning cast iron, a process called polymerisation, consists of applying a layer of vegetable oil to the piece and heating it in the oven to a temperature high enough for the oil to bond to the iron. This process gives Lodge cookware its classic black patina, creating a naturally non-stick cooking surface, which is also a protective layer that helps prevent the cookware from rusting.
-
Its excellent non-stick properties. Lodge pieces offer a natural non-stick surface that even lets you cook with almost no oil. What's more, the more you use them, the more non-stick they become.
-
Its great heat retention and even heat distribution. Being made of iron, it retains heat excellently for longer and spreads it evenly. Thanks to the high temperatures iron reaches, it seals food in its own juices, keeping all its flavour. The result is much tastier, just like traditional flavours.
- The over 125 years of Lodge experience in making cast iron pieces. Manufacturing since 1896, Lodge is an iconic brand in the USA, its country of origin, where it still makes all its cast iron products at the Lodge foundries in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
To cook with this griddle, just heat it gradually so the heat spreads evenly across the whole piece. You can start cooking when it is very hot. To clean it, let it cool first; wash it with a non-abrasive sponge and detergent and lightly oil the inside surface to prevent rust. For optimal care, always store it in a dry place.
NOTE: Factory seasoning gives Lodge cast iron pieces a rustic finish with certain imperfections, such as the odd brown mark on the rim, handle or grip. Don't worry! They are small spots where the oil has not bonded to the iron, but you can use your piece without any problem. It is not a defect or rust and disappears with normal use and care.
