EXCLUSIVE across Europe: the special limited-edition Yellowstone Lodge Collection arrives at Claudia&Julia!

The Yellowstone Lodge cast iron Dutch oven is a highly versatile 2-in-1. This iron casserole with a handle and legshas a reversible lid featuring iconic engravings from the Yellowstone series™ , which, when simply turned over, becomes a wonderful griddle. The cocotte-style casserole stands raised on its 3 built-in feet, so you can cook any recipe over the flames of a campfire or the embers of a wood or charcoal barbecue.

The lid has a dual function. Its weight provides an airtight seal, keeping in the heat and steam while cooking. And its deep design lets you place hot embers on top to maintain the temperature, or ice cubes to increase the steam inside. And if you fancy griddled meat or vegetables, just turn the lid over and you have a great iron griddle! The pot has a metal handle so you can take it wherever you like.

About the Yellowstone Lodge collection

In partnership with the hit series Yellowstone™from Paramount Network, Lodge has created a special limited-edition collection of cast iron cookware, made in the USA and built for adventure. Inspired by the spectacular landscapes of the American West, the collection pays tribute to American courage, embodied in the fight to preserve its legacy and way of life.

Every piece in the collection has a unique design, with engravings representing the series, such as the Y from the logo, horse-breaking scenes or the image of a wild bull. A perfect gift for fans of the series and lovers of tradition, family meals and Lodge cast iron.

You can see all the pieces in the Lodge Yellowstone collection here.

What makes the Yellowstone Lodge cast iron Dutch oven special

  • Sturdy construction in cast iron, with no non-stick coating and no toxic substances.
  • Functional design , with three legs that raise it so you can cook over the flames of a campfire, in the fireplace or on the barbecue.
  • The versatility of its cast iron lid. Its weight provides an airtight seal, keeping the steam and heat inside the pot. Its design lets you place embers on top to keep the heat in or ice cubes to create more steam. And it has a dual function: turned over, it can be used as a griddle or baking tray.
  • Easy handling. The wide curve of the lid handle makes it safe to handle. The stainless steel bail handle, like that of a cauldron, makes it easy to carry.
  • Durability. Being cast iron, they last far longer than a lifetime.
  • Excellent balance of quality, durability and price. Affordable pieces with exceptional durability and unquestionable quality.
  • Rough finish. Lodge makes all its casseroles in a single piece using one-off sand moulds; this gives them their characteristic, slightly rough finish inside and out and makes every piece unique. With use, a patina forms that eventually creates a smooth, naturally non-stick surface.
  • Factory seasoning. All Lodge cast iron pieces are seasoned at the factory, so that they are ready to use as soon as they arrive at your home. Seasoning cast iron, a process called polymerisation, involves applying a layer of vegetable oil to the piece and heating it in the oven to a temperature high enough for the oil to bond with the iron. This process gives Lodge cookware its classic black patina, creating a naturally non-stick cooking surface, which is also a protective layer that helps prevent the cookware from rusting.
  • Excellent non-stick properties. Its natural non-stick surface even lets you cook with almost no oil. And the more you use it, the more non-stick it becomes.
  • Excellent heat retention and even heat distribution. Being iron, it retains heat brilliantly for longer and distributes it evenly. The high temperatures that iron reaches let you sear food in its own juices, keeping all its flavour. The result is far tastier, just like the flavours of old.
  • Over 125 years of Lodge experience in making cast iron. Making cast iron since 1896, Lodge is an iconic brand not only in the USA, its home country, where it still makes all its cast iron products at the Lodge foundries in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.

To use it, let it heat up gradually so the heat spreads evenly through the whole piece, and start cooking once it is very hot. To clean it, let it cool first; wash it with a non-abrasive sponge and detergent and lightly oil the inside surface to prevent rust. For best care, always store it in a dry place.

NOTE: Factory seasoning gives Lodge cast iron pieces a rustic finish with some imperfections, such as the odd brown mark on the rim, handle or helper handle. Don’t worry! These are small spots where the oil has not bonded with the iron, but you can use your piece without any problem. It is not a defect or rust, and it disappears with use and normal care.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Lodge iron pieces are heavy and are not dishwasher safe. The good thing (apart from being incredible, natural pans) is that they come factory seasoned, so you can start using them as soon as they arrive (no prior seasoning needed). But remember: they are made of cast iron, but not enamelled, so they must be dried as soon as they are washed or rust will appear. If rust does appear, simply rub it with a scouring pad to restore it. If you like, you can re-season it now and then… although you are doing that every time you use it! Use it every day, dry it straight away and you will have a pan for life (and incredibly tasty recipes with natural flavours).
