Toast with banana and salted caramel

Grades

  • I love toasted bread, but if you have good country bread and you don't want to toast it, it will be great too soft.
  • Pecans are softer and butterier, but you can use California nuts if you prefer.
  • Instead of salted caramel, you can spread the toast with melted chocolate, hazelnut butter, or peanut butter. Personally, I prefer salted caramel or chocolate, they go down well with bananas.
  • To decorate, you can use coconut flakes, or replace it with hazelnuts or sliced almonds. They combine perfectly with banana and honey, and add the final touch to the dish.
  • By personal preference I apply a soft honey, normally rosemary or a thousand flowers, or alternatively, agave syrup; but in this recipe, if you like strong flavors, an orange or chestnut honey will be great too.
  • It is important to serve it after preparing it, or the plantain will darken and lose its charm.
  • If you don't want to use honey, but are in the mood for a sweet and delicious breakfast, you can use caramelized walnuts. It is a great option and each "crunch" tastes like a breakfast of champions. You can see how to make caramelized pecans in this post .
