Already popular worldwide, with its traditional short-handle design and wide cooking surface, the Lodge Cast Iron Skillet is a marvelous piece of cast iron cookware, known for its high quality and durability. Its cast iron construction, in addition to making it robust, ensures excellent heat retention for longer periods and provides even heat distribution. Its natural nonstick surface, free of coatings or PFOA, makes it an essential addition to your kitchen.
The Lodge skillet offers a large cooking surface, which, besides being highly efficient, improves its nonstick properties with use. With this skillet, you can sauté, sear, grill, fry, roast, and bake savory or sweet recipes. It retains heat wonderfully, and thanks to the high temperatures achieved by cast iron, this skillet is very efficient, making cooking a pleasure and delivering delicious results.
For 125 years, the Lodge skillet has been a staple in kitchens worldwide. Made in the USA from cast iron and treated with oil, its naturally seasoned cooking surface is ready to help you turn your meals into delicious moments.
Lodge cast iron cookware is heavy and not dishwasher-safe. The good news (besides being incredible and natural skillets) is that they come pre-seasoned from the factory, so you can start using them as soon as they arrive (no initial seasoning required). However, remember: these are cast iron but not enameled. After washing, they must be dried immediately to avoid rust. If rust appears, simply scrub it with steel wool to restore it. If desired, you can season it occasionally… though with each use, you’re already maintaining it! Use it daily, dry it immediately, and you’ll have a skillet for life (and incredibly flavorful, natural recipes).

When using it, allow it to heat gradually so the heat spreads evenly across the piece, and start cooking once it’s very hot. For cleaning, let it cool down first; wash it with a sponge and non-abrasive detergent, then lightly oil the inner surface to prevent rust. For optimal care, always store it in a dry place.
Remember that the skillet is made of cast iron in a single piece, so both the handle and loop will get hot. Using a silicone hot handle holder or silicone grips, you can handle it safely without burning yourself.
NOTE: The factory seasoning gives Lodge cast iron cookware a rustic finish with slight imperfections, such as small brown marks on the edge, handle, or loop. Don’t worry! These are spots where the oil hasn’t fully bonded to the iron but won’t affect its use. Over time and with care, they’ll disappear.
