Kilner® Cotton Muslin Strainer is a practical and versatile kitchen aid, with which you can press and strain all kinds of preparations , from jams to cheeses. Light and soft to the touch, with this fine mesh fabric you will have your vegetable drinks or infusions ready quickly and easily.

What to use cotton muslin for

Kilner® Cotton Muslin is a generous size of 50cm long x 50cm wide and is perfect for use in a multitude of preparations. And as it can be easily washed, either by hand or in the washing machine , it is extremely practical. Here are some of its possibilities:

• Straining broths and soups . It is perfect for filtering broths and soups, removing impurities and obtaining a clearer, cleaner texture. Place it on the strainer to use it, and it's ready!
  
• Prepare tea, herbal teas or infusions of herbs, spices or flowers . Simply place them in the centre of the muslin and close it like a bundle before placing it in the hot water and letting it rest to infuse.
  
• Infuse sauces, broths and soups . Just like for herbal teas, it is perfect for flavouring your broths and sauces with herbs and spices. You can make a bouquet garni to your liking.
  
• Filter juices and pulps . If you want clear juices free of pulp, you can use muslin to filter the juice obtained from the squeezed fruit or press it directly with the muslin.
  
• Making homemade cheese . Muslin is an extremely useful tool for separating the whey from the rennet, achieving the right consistency and texture.
• Thickening yogurt . If you want a thicker yogurt, just pour it over the muslin and let the whey drain off until it has the texture you like best.
  
• Draining homemade butter . When making butter at home, muslin is a great help in draining the buttermilk well.
• Straining infused oils and vinegars . Perfect for straining your flavored oils and homemade vinegars to obtain a clean, residue-free liquid.

Claudia's tip: Don't throw away the whey that you get when you drain cheese, butter or yoghurt. As well as having many benefits, you can use it to enrich your vegetable creams and purees, to add it to your bread, pie and pizza doughs or for cakes or muffins, for example.
