The Lodge cast iron deep skillet and flat skillet set is a perfect 3-in-1 Set. With this Set of two 26 cm frying pans you will have a tall Shallow Casserole with lid, a deep frying pan, and a traditional frying pan, so you can cook all kinds of recipes both in the kitchen, as well as in the oven or on the barbecue. From stews, soups or casseroles, to fried or sautéed dishes, roasts or healthy and natural cooking, on the griddle and with little oil, or pies, breads, quiches, empanadas or cakes, you can do it all!
The cast iron construction of both pieces provides them with an excellent heat retention that distributes heat evenly. The height of the deep skillet gives it a generous 3-liter capacity, ideal for cooking your best slow-cooked stews for the whole week or family. The shallow skillet is also a perfect lid to retain the internal steam and save time when cooking. Plus, you'll have a fantastic skillet, for cooking on the griddle, naturally and without non-stick coatings, for meats, fish, or vegetables, with fantastic results.
IMPORTANT! As you may have guessed after seeing the manufacturing process, the pans are NOT perfect: they have small imperfections that are quite common, usually related to some irregularity in the cast iron. This is normal and nothing to worry about (if there isn't one small imperfection, there will be another). It's part of their process and charm, and you can rest assured because what's important is that the seasoning has been done throughout the entire pan.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Lodge iron pieces are heavy, and are not dishwasher safe. The good thing (besides being incredible and natural skillets) is that they come pre-seasoned from the factory, so you can start using them as soon as you receive them at home (no prior seasoning required). But remember: they are made of cast iron but not enameled, so right after washing, they must be dried to prevent rust. If rust appears, simply scrub it off with steel wool to restore it. If you want, you can season it occasionally... Although with each use you are doing it! Use it daily, dry it immediately, and you will have a skillet for life (and incredibly tasty recipes with natural flavors).

What distinguishes the Lodge cast iron deep skillet and flat skillet set
-
Its robust construction. Both Lodge skillets are made of cast iron, without any non-stick coating or toxic elements. This robustness allows you to use any utensil when cooking with them, even stainless steel ones.
-
Its manageability. Even though they are sturdy skillets, their design is made for comfortable and easy handling. Both have an ergonomic handle and a grip handle for secure holding.
-
The functionality of both pieces. The two frying pans in the set make up a fantastic 3-in-1 Set. You can use them together and you'll have a Shallow Casserole with a lid to cook slow-cooked recipes, or roasts in the oven or on the barbecue. Separately, you have two frying pans of different heights to cook whatever you need: from dishes with sauce or fried foods in the deep frying pan, or foods on the griddle, omelets, or stir-fries in the shallow frying pan. Both pieces are also excellent molds for baking all kinds of dishes and doughs.
-
Their durability. Since they are made entirely of cast iron, these pieces last much longer than a lifetime.
-
Their excellent balance of quality, durability, and price. They are affordable pieces with exceptional durability and unquestionable quality.
-
Their rough finish. Lodge manufactures the pans in a single piece and unique sand molds; this gives them their characteristic slightly rough finish on both the interior and exterior surfaces and makes each piece unique and unrepeatable. With use, a patina forms that will create a smooth and naturally non-stick surface.
-
Their factory seasoning or curing. All Lodge cast iron pieces receive a seasoning or conditioning at the factory, so when you receive them at home they are ready to use. The seasoning of cast iron, called polymerization, consists of applying a layer of vegetable oil to the piece and heating it in the oven at a high enough temperature for the oil to bond with the iron. This process gives Lodge utensils their classic black patina, creating a a naturally non-stick cooking surface, which is also a protective layer that helps prevent utensils from rusting.
-
Their excellent non-stick properties. Lodge pieces offer a natural non-stick surface, allowing you to cook with almost no oil. Also, the more they are used, the more non-stick they become.
-
Their great heat retention and even heat distribution. Being iron, they retain heat excellently for longer and distribute it evenly. Thanks to the high temperatures iron reaches, it allows sealing food with its own juices, preserving all its flavor. The result is much tastier, like traditional flavors.
-
Their versatility. Lodge pieces are suitable for all types of stoves and heat sources. You can cook with them on gas, ceramic, electric, induction, wood stove, barbecue, and also in the oven.
- The more than 125 years of Lodge’s experience in manufacturing cast iron pieces. Manufacturers since 1896, Lodge is an iconic brand not only in the USA, its country of origin, where they still manufacture all their cast iron products at the Lodge foundries in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
You can use both pieces together or separately. To cook with them, just let them heat gradually so the heat distributes evenly throughout the piece, and start cooking when they are very hot. To clean them, let them cool first; wash with a sponge and non-abrasive detergent and lightly oil the interior surface to prevent rust. For optimal preservation, it is recommended to always store them in a dry place.
Remember that the utensils are made of iron and manufactured in a single piece, so the handle and grips get hot. With the silicone handle protector for hot handlesLodge and the silicone handle covers for Lodge pans, you can handle Lodge iron utensils safely without burning yourself.
NOTE: Factory seasoning gives Lodge cast iron pieces a rustic finish with some imperfections, such as some brown marks on the edge, handle, or grip. Don’t worry! These are small spots where the oil hasn’t integrated into the iron, but you can use your piece without problems. It is not a defect nor rust and disappears with regular use and care.
