These are the perfect glasses for beer lovers, and they come in a pack of 2 units! Luigi Bormioli's Birrateque glasses are designed to enjoy the unique organoleptic characteristics of craft beers. They were developed in collaboration with the design center Studi Assaggiatori, international specialists in sensory analysis, with the goal that their design allows us to discover and enjoy all the distinctive nuances of each beer variety.

Features of Birrateque beer glasses

  • Each beer variety has its own characteristics, so Bormioli has developed 4 different glasses that highlight the organoleptic properties and sensations of black, IPA, wheat, and seasonal beers.
  • The shape of the glasses helps us generate and maintain the foam, preventing the oxidation of the beer when in contact with air.
  • They have the perfect capacity and shape to create an "aroma chamber" that allows us to develop the aromas unique to each beer variety.
  • The rim of the glass is designed to distribute the beer throughout the mouth, not just to the center of the tongue, improving the perception of the beer's nuances.
  • The glasses are made in Italy with an exclusive formula, lead-free, by Luigi Bormioli to achieve a durable crystal with exceptional shine.
  • They can be cleaned in the dishwasher; their formula preserves the shine and transparency of the crystal even after more than 4000 wash cycles.

Birrateque glass models

  1. IPA beer glass: The IPA beer glass has been designed with a conical shape and a slim body to maintain the beer's carbonation, which is lower in IPA beers. Its narrow base helps to further invigorate its foam and flavor. It is mainly intended for double or imperial IPA, American IPA, and English IPA.
  2. Black beer glass: The Birrateque glass for black beer has a sinuous, elegant, and well-balanced design, and according to experts, it is the perfect instrument to enjoy full-bodied craft beers like black beers. The glass design helps improve the creaminess of the beer, and its shape at the top is ideal, allowing the flavor to be enhanced: it accentuates the aromas of black beer such as coffee, spices, caramel, and dried fruit.
  3. Seasonal beer glass: This glass has a more peculiar and futuristic design. The robustness of the base, combined with the angle of the body, provides strength so that all aromas are propelled upwards, allowing you to enhance and appreciate all the flavor and texture of seasonal beers. It emphasizes floral notes and fruity aromas, bringing out all the sweetness and highlighting the effervescence. For all these reasons, it is a perfect glass for seasonal beers, with a high alcohol content and all kinds of floral and fruity ingredients, such as pumpkin, raspberry aromas, etc.
  4. Wheat beer glass: With an informal elegance, the wheat beer glass offers a good grip thanks to its base, while its rounded silhouette allows the wheat aromas to amplify towards the nose, to fully enjoy the beer.

History of Luigi Bormioli

The history of the Bormioli family is one of a passion for glass that has endured for generations. It all began in 1825 (100 years ago!), when Bormioli Rocco established its first glassworks in Fidenza, Parma, a region known for its rich history and artisanal tradition. Over time, the brand became a benchmark in the manufacture of high-quality table glassware, giving life in 1976 to its most iconic product: the "Quattro Stagioni" jar, the first household jar suitable for pasteurization—an essential in kitchens worldwide (a name as popular in Italy today as Chupa Chups are among kids).

In 1946, in the same historic city of Parma, Luigi Bormioli was born, a brand that further elevated the art of glassmaking by combining Italian craftsmanship with the most advanced technology to offer exceptional design pieces. In 2017, both brands merged under Luigi Bormioli, consolidating their legacy as a global leader in glassware, exporting to over 100 countries while maintaining a strong commitment to innovation, quality, and elegance.
