The Le Creuset Round Cast Iron Cocotte is a piece of cookware coveted by all the world's cooks. Cooking in a cocotte will give you absolutely delicious results. More French than Asterix, Le Creuset casseroles and cocottes guarantee years of pleasure in the kitchen and at the table .
The new Evolution cocotte is the latest model from Le Creuset and includes the following improvements over previous models:
-
Larger handles to hold and transport the cast iron pot from the oven to the table more comfortably and safely, even when wearing oven gloves.
-
Interior vitrified material more resistant to stains, wear and scratches. It is also easier to clean than traditional vitrified material.
-
New lid design with better fit to retain moisture and flavor inside the cocotte.
-
More ergonomic and comfortable knob to hold.
Note : The Ocean and Chiffon Pink variants are, like the other cocottes, the new Le Creuset Evolution cocottes, but they come with the phenolic knob as standard. This knob allows you to use the cocotte up to 190°C. You can easily change it for the stainless steel knob or the copper knob if you are interested at any time.

What sets Le Creuset cocottes apart
- Made of cast iron with a vitrified coating , the cocottes are suitable for all types of cookers (including induction), oven-safe and can even be frozen and washed in the dishwasher.
- Their smooth satin finish makes them shine both in the kitchen and on the table.
- Le Creuset casseroles and cocottes are especially suitable for slow cooking over low heat to obtain the most tender and flavoursome meats.
- Free of non-stick coatings, these are pieces that offer 100% natural cooking of food.
- There is no other material like iron to transmit heat. So they heat up from the base and the heat rises through the sides (and the lid!) , heating the entire preparation and food from all sides, offering faster, more homogeneous and efficient cooking .
-
With lifetime warranty .
NOTE: The cocotte with black exterior features a black glazed interior, being exactly the same glazed iron material as the rest of the cocottes, but without the cream-colored enamel.
What can you make in a Le Creuset cocotte?
Everything! Round cast iron cocottes are versatile! Le Creuset cocottes are suitable for both the stove (including induction) and the oven (or the barbecue or fireplace if you wish). And in them you can make:
-
Stews and casseroles : They are ideal for slow-cooked dishes such as stews, casseroles and soups. Cast iron distributes heat evenly, cooking ingredients slowly and bringing out their flavours.
-
Roasts: From roast chicken to larger meats like lamb or pork, cocottes are perfect for roasting. They retain moisture and caramelize ingredients for juicy, flavorful results.
-
Slow-cooked meats: Prepare slow-cooked meat dishes such as ragù, shredded beef or even ribs. The constant, gentle heat ensures tender, flavourful meat.
-
Creams and soups: Place them on the fire and simmer for hours.
- Legumes and vegetables: All kinds of legumes and vegetables. From cooking them to preparing your stews, you can cook spoon dishes and dishes full of vitamins, iron and health.
-
Rice: from simply boiling it to making risottos or rice dishes your way.
-
Fish: stewed or roasted, they are fabulous.
-
Pasta dishes: From lasagna to macaroni and cheese, cocottes are perfect for baked pasta dishes. They allow for even cooking and retain heat to keep dishes warm. They are tall, capacious pots, so you can boil all kinds of pasta in them. And if you want to gratinate it in the oven at the end, you can do so in the cocotte itself.
- Vegetarian Dishes: Steam vegetables (by placing a steamer inside), gratin or sauté. Cocottes retain the nutrients and bring out the natural flavours of the vegetables.
- Breads and Cakes: Heat retention makes cocottes ideal for baking breads, buns and cakes. The lid creates a moist environment that encourages the formation of a crispy crust and soft crumb (in fact, because it retains the moisture in the dough inside the cocotte, you don't need to humidify the oven as you do with other bread-making methods).
-
Sauces and reductions: Even heat distribution helps create perfect sauces and reductions. From pasta sauces to glazes for meats, cocottes are great for slow cooking.
- Hot drinks, jams and many other desserts: with a cocotte you have a surface that distributes heat from the base to the sides, in a very efficient way, while offering you a large capacity, in width and height. So they are ideal for cooking everything from hot drinks and punches to jams, rice pudding, creams and other desserts and preparations you can imagine.
Why we love the Le Creuset Evolution Round Cocotte
- Like all cocottes, the transmission and distribution of heat is perfect thanks to the wonderful iron structure of these casseroles.
- Like all Le Creuset products, it is not only practical and very durable, but also beautiful enough to present food on the table.
-
It's so versatile! Both because it can be used on the stove or in the oven, and because it can be used to make all kinds of preparations (starters, main courses, desserts, etc.)
