History of Opinel

Over 120 years ago, Joseph Opinel created the popular knife that bears his name in the small village of Albiez-le-Vieux, in the heart of the French Alps. Today, his descendants continue to manufacture simple, robust and precise utensils in Chambery, using top-quality materials and a production process that respects natural resources.
