Remember, we have a protective handle cover for De Buyer iron skillets to help you avoid burns while handling.
Why we love the Mineral B iron skillet
- The mineral iron distributes heat so evenly across the skillet's surface that any food is cooked and browned perfectly.
- They are built to last a lifetime. They'll last you forever if you take care of them well, as you know.
- Since they’re oven-safe, they're perfect for gratinating or adding a final touch of heat to your recipes.
- They are non-Teflon skillets, natural, and chemical-free. Cooking in them not only enhances food flavors but is also completely healthy!
Important things to know about Mineral B iron skillets
- De Buyer skillets are made in France, and are the only ones certified with over 99% pure iron. The best!
- They are iron skillets, so they may rust. How to prevent it? Avoid prolonged contact with water and don’t let them air dry: simply dry them with a cloth after washing. If you want, you can leave them on low heat for a few minutes to fully remove moisture while you finish up in the kitchen (a very useful and easy trick).
- If you're not going to use them for a while, you can apply a bit of oil and spread it with a paper towel, though it’s not essential.
- Before first use, seasoning is highly recommended. Seasoning makes them naturally more non-stick. It’s very easy to do. Watch the video among the photos to learn how.
- This is a skillet for life! You can scrub it with a soft sponge or even steel wool if needed, and nothing will happen to the skillet! (there’s no non-stick coating to damage). They may turn black, in spots or all over. Don’t worry; the blacker they get, the better they work.
- If rust spots appear, just wipe with a paper towel and oil, and they’ll disappear like magic. If the rusted area is larger, use steel wool without fear. It won’t harm it; it’s entirely iron—underneath the surface layer, there’s more iron.
- If you’ve had to scrub it with steel wool, or if you simply want to, you can season it again, though it’s by no means necessary.
