What sets Le Creuset cocottes apart
- Made in cast iron with vitreous enamel coating, the cocottes are suitable for all types of stovetops (including induction), oven and can even be frozen and washed in the dishwasher.
- Their smooth satin finish makes them shine both in the kitchen and at the table.
- Le Creuset pans and cocottes are especially suitable for slow, low-heat cooking to achieve the most tender and flavorful meats.
- Free of non-stick coatings, they are pieces that offer 100% natural cooking of food.
- There is no other material like iron for conducting heat. So they heat from the base and the heat rises up the sides ( (and the lid!), heating the whole preparation and food from all sides, offering faster, more even cooking and efficient results.
-
With lifetime warranty.
NOTE: The casserole with a black exterior features a black enameled interior, being exactly the same enameled cast iron material as the rest of the casseroles, but without the cream-colored enamel.
What can you make in a Le Creuset casserole?
Everything! Round cast iron cocottes are versatile! Le Creuset cocottes are suitable for both the stovetop (including induction) and the oven (or the barbecue or fireplace if you wish). And in them you can make:
-
Stews and braises: They're ideal for slow-cooked dishes such as casseroles, stews, and soups. cast iron distributes heat evenly, cooking the ingredients slowly and enhancing their flavors.
-
Roasts: From roast chicken to larger meats like lamb or pork, cocottes are perfect for roasting. They retain moisture and caramelize ingredients for juicy, flavorful results.
-
Slow-cooked meats: Prepare slow-cooked meat dishes like ragù, shredded meat or even ribs. The steady, gentle heat ensures tender, flavorful meat.
-
Creams and soups: place them on the stove and let them simmer for hours.
- Legumes and vegetables: All kinds of legumes and vegetables. From boiling them to preparing your stews, you can cook spoon dishes and meals full of vitamins, iron and health.
-
Rice dishes: from simply boiling it to making risottos or rice your way.
-
Fish: stewed or roasted, they come out fabulous.
-
Pasta dishes: From lasagna to macaroni and cheese, casseroles are perfect for baked pasta dishes. They allow even cooking and retain heat to keep dishes warm. They are tall, high-capacity pots, so you can boil all kinds of pasta in them. And if you want to brown it in the oven at the end, you can do it in the same casserole.
- Vegetarian dishes: Cook steamed vegetables (by placing a steamer inside), gratins or stir-fries. Cocottes preserve nutrients and enhance the natural flavors of vegetables.
- Breads and Cakes: Heat retention makes casseroles ideal for baking breads, rolls, and cakes. The lid creates a humid environment that promotes a crisp crust and a soft crumb (in fact, because it retains the dough's moisture inside the casserole, you don't need to steam the oven as with other bread-making methods).
-
Sauces and reductions: The even heat distribution helps create perfect sauces and reductions. From pasta sauces to glazes for meats, cocottes are excellent for slow cooking.
- Hot drinks, jams, and so many other desserts: with a casserole you have a surface that distributes heat from the base to the sides in a highly efficient way, while offering you great capacity, in width and in height. So they are ideal for cooking everything from hot drinks and punches to jams, rice pudding, creams, and other desserts and preparations you can imagine.
Why we like the Le Creuset Round Evolution Cocotte
- Like all cocottes, heat transmission and distribution is perfect due to the marvelous iron structure of these pans.
- Like all Le Creuset products, it is not only practical and very durable, but so beautiful that it's suitable for presenting food at the table.
-
It's extremely versatile! Both because you can use it on the stove and in the oven, and because you can make all kinds of preparations in it (starters, mains, desserts, ...)
