The De Buyer chestnut pan is a perforated steel pan (which is also suitable for induction), and apart from roasting chestnuts, you can do much more. This iron pan with side holes is designed for roasting chestnuts at home on any type of stove: gas, ceramic, or induction. With side ventilation to improve heat circulation, 28 cm in diameter and a specially designed bottom for roasting, it ensures the perfect roasting process for chestnuts. You can also use it for roasting nuts, oats, and seeds!

This is a pan for life, made of blue iron. Unlike others, it comes with a factory seasoning to prevent rust and requires NO additional seasoning. Moreover, as it is simply designed to roast dry foods (whether chestnuts, nuts, or others), it is not meant to be washed... just wipe it with a dry cloth after roasting and store it protected until the next use.

As French as the Marseillaise, De Buyer iron pans are eco-friendly, recyclable, and built to last a lifetime. It is an iron pan that will last you forever, and you can use it on the stove, as well as on the fireplace or barbecue.

  1. Handcrafted from iron
  2. Free of heavy metals.
  3. Suitable for all heat sources, including induction.
  4. Suitable for use on the fireplace and barbecue.

Notes:

  • Being made of blue mineral iron, they come with a special factory treatment to protect against rust, and unlike Mineral B pans, these chestnut pans do not require seasoning.
  • When you receive it at home, wipe it with a dry cloth to remove any factory dust, and it’s ready to use!
  • No need to wash it after use; once cool, just wipe it with a dry cloth, and you can store it until the next use (you don't cook in it, only roast chestnuts or nuts, so it won’t dirty the pan, hence no washing required).
  • If you're interested in learning how to roast nuts in the pan, I encourage you to check it out in this post.

What you can use the chestnut pan for:

  • Roasting chestnuts
  • Since the perforations are small and on the sides, you can use the pan all year round for roasting nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews...), seeds (sunflower, pumpkin...), dried coconut, muesli, or oats, avoiding the need to turn on the oven for toasting.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This pan can be used to roast chestnuts on induction as long as it is not used at maximum induction power (it’s not necessary to use maximum power to roast chestnuts, as they need time to roast properly). In the instructions, De Buyer does not state that it is induction compatible because it doesn’t have the thickness of the Mineral pans, so it could warp if used at maximum power on that heat source.

Remember, we have a protective cover for the handles of De Buyer iron pans, which will help prevent burns when handling the pan.

Why we love the De Buyer chestnut pan

  1. We love kitchen utensils that allow us to do things the old-fashioned way. Who doesn’t love freshly roasted chestnuts? Imagine the aroma.
  2. If you have an induction stove, this is one of the only pans you can use to roast chestnuts, as other similar options are not induction compatible.
  3. An iron pan lasts a lifetime if properly cared for. It’s an investment.
  4. It is also ideal for roasting nuts, dried coconut, seeds like pumpkin, oats...

Me sorprendió agradablemente.

Nada recomendable. Una gran decepcion.
