Microplane’s story
Made in the USA, Microplane graters have already become the benchmark for this type of utensil because of their sharp, sturdy blades that cut food like no other. It all started in 1994, when a carpenter's wife was baking an orange cake. Fed up with the poor performance of her grater, she tried one of her husband's favourite carpentry tools. She slid the orange against the blade and gasped in amazement: the tiny zests fell like snowflakes. The discovery of the Microplane woodworking tool, capable of creating the finest orange zest imaginable, laid the foundation for the success of the brand's graters.
